VARIATIONS CHORALE is an auditioned vocal ensemble specializing in choral chamber music and advanced choral repertoire. They also sing African American spirituals and modern popular music.
The choir was formed in 1982 as a part of the music program at Pellissippi State Community College located in Knoxville, Tennessee, USA. It is composed of 20 men and 20 women who receive scholarships for their participation in the group. The group has performed throughout the state of Tennessee and in Europe, Asia, and South America. Notable concerts were held in La Familia Sagrada in Barcelona, in Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris (twice), and in the Berlinerdom in Germany. In addition, the choir has toured Spain, Portugal, Hungary, Poland, Peru, and China.
Although the choir has sung in great cathedrals and concert halls around the world, their favorite concerts are those performed for school children. The choir members love the interaction with children and often are able to engage with them while performing special musical pieces.
