If we need a Mission Statement, then it is that we believe our mission is to be Salt and Light, for someone full of the Holy Spirit preserves like salt and one full of faith shines brightly.
In Matthew 5:13-16 he says: “You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot. You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven”.
A community with the Mission Statement of being Salt and Light will be:
* committed to worship
* committed to discovering more of the faith
* nurturing those who are young in years and those who are young in the faith
* seeking ways to apply the principles revealed by the faith to daily life at home, at school and college and at work
* aware of the needs of those less fortunate and will seek ways to bless those who lack the blessings we enjoy
* committed to sharing the faith with those who have never heard it, are indifferent to it or have rejected it
When we are willing to be Salt and Light in the world, we cultivate in people an appetite for God — or at least a curiosity. We are a phenomenon to them because we live in the same world that they do yet live differently. It makes them wonder what gives us that kind of joy. People will ask, and they will listen. We must be ready to give them the answer: it’s the Good News about Jesus Christ.
This is our Mission Statement.
