Dear People & Friends of St. Clement’s,

I’m very much looking forward to seeing many of you this evening at our Burn’s Night Ceilidh. Gordon tells me that we have over fifty people attending so it should be a great occasion. Apparently, only about half of us will be able to dance at any one time so it does mean the other half will be able to sit down & regain our breath! And because the event is on a Friday & not a Saturday evening, it does mean you all have no excuse not to be in Church on Sunday as you’ll have the whole of Saturday to recover from your exertions ;-)  Therefore……..

Sunday 27th January at 11.00 – Sung Eucharist for the Fourth Sunday of Epiphany with Baptism

The Gospel Reading is Luke 4. 14-21 which describes Jesus visiting the synagogue in his home town of Nazareth at the beginning of his public ministry. Our Epistle reading is 1 Corinthians 12. 12-31 which follows on directly from the Epistle reading last Sunday all about spiritual gifts. We will also hear & respond to Psalm 19. All three are wonderful passages of scripture leaving me spoilt for choice as to which to preach from :-) But I do promise not to preach for too long!

Within the service, I will be baptising Titi & Nike Adenubi, the daughters of Tunde & Zdeňka Adenubi. Do wrap up warm! I plan to once more wear my fleece under my cassock-alb. There will be parallel Children’s Ministry and the service will be followed by Coffee Hour in the hall on the third floor of Klimentská 18. My thanks to Darina who is running Coffee Hour for us this Sunday whilst Caroline is away.

Tuesday 29th January 18.30 – 20.00 in the small meeting room on the first floor of Klimentská 18.

The fourth in our series looking at Strong women in the Bible. I shall be leading our study looking at what we can learn from Mary the mother of Jesus. We’ve had three most enjoyable Tuesday evenings so far looking at Ruth, Mary Magdalene & Esther. Do join us & bring a Bible if you can.

Future dates to note

Wednesday 13th February – Ash Wednesday – 19.00 Eucharist with the (voluntary) imposition of ashes

Sunday 10th March – Annual Church Meeting following our Sung Eucharist.

A request for help

Caroline is also away on Sunday 3rd & Sunday 10th February. We need a volunteer to run Coffee Hour on those two Sundays. If you would be willing to do one of these two Sundays, please speak with me on Sunday or reply to this email.

Some things to note

Sunday sermons from Sunday 23rd December up to last Sunday 20th January, are all now uploaded & available to listen to on on our website. Just go here and click on the one(s) you want to listen to. Apologies that there is only a text version of Jack Noonan’s sermon from Sunday 23rd December – attempts to record unfortunately failed.

We are still collecting tinned food & warm winter adult clothing to help the Salvation Army in their work with the homeless in Prague. Please bring your contributions & place them in the correct wheelie bin at the back of Church on Sunday.

If you have used postage stamps for the ICS collection envelope on the noticeboard at the back of Church, please could you bring them with you this Sunday! I want to get what we have collected, sent off to the UK next week.

Until tonight or Sunday morning.

Best wishes

Ricky
