Dear People & Friends of St. Clement’s,

It was wonderful last Monday, to be able to attend some of the wide variety of activities in the centre of Prague, commemorating the 600th anniversary of the martyrdom of Jan Hus. It was also most encouraging to see the various events being so well attended and to run into several members of the St. Clement’s congregation. Let us continue to pray that Husovské slavnosti will a lasting impact on the spiritual life of the Czech nation.

As we are now into July, St Clement’s is in ‘Summer mode’ which means no midweek activities on a Tuesday evening and no Children’s Ministry during worship on Sundays. However, children are still most welcome at our Sung Eucharist and younger ones can take full advantage of the toys, books etc available in the children’s area at the back of Church. Therefore….

Sunday 12th July at 11.00 – Sung Eucharist for the Sixth Sunday after Trinity
Our preacher this coming Sunday will be Lea Williams, who is training for ordained ministry in the Church of England at Ripon College, Cuddesdon, just outside Oxford, and as part of his training, is undertaking a four week summer placement in the Eastern Archdeaconry of the Diocese in Europe. Those of you who were at St. Clement’s last Sunday, will have met him already. Lea is having to address what I often refer to as the ‘discipline of the lectionary’, in that the Gospel reading will be Mark 6. 14-29, which tells the sad story of the beheading of John the Baptist! The supporting readings will be Amos 7. 7-15 and Ephesians 1. 3-14. Following worship, Cool Drinks & Light Refreshments will be served at the back of the Church.

Looking further ahead into July, at our 11.00 Sung Eucharist on Sunday 26th July, we will be joined by the Choir of Little St. Mary’s Church, Cambridge, UK, who will sing a setting of the Eucharist, as well as supporting our congregational singing.

My only other reminder this week is to repeat that the contents of Salvation Army wheelie bins at the back of the Church, where we collect tinned food and warm winter clothing for both men & women were collected by František from the Salvation Army two weeks ago.  Therefore both bins are almost empty & ready to be refilled. Whilst clothing is less of an issue at this time of year, tinned food is always needed. Let’s hear a few clunks from tins being deposited this coming Sunday. A reminder that it is only tinned food NOT packets or bottles. We found a few things which could best be described as ‘interesting’, when we did empty the ‘tins bin’!

Until Sunday

Best wishes

Ricky
