Dear People & Friends of St. Clement’s,

As those of you who were in Church last Sunday morning will know, a few hours after sending out my ‘Weekly Message’ last Friday, one of my front teeth snapped off whilst I was eating fish in one of our local bar-restaurants that evening. Today, I’ve just returned from my third visit of the week to the dentist, having had my root canal drilled out & filled, with a screw attached to the filling, and a mould taken in order to create a new crown, to be fitted next Friday. In the mean time, I have a temporary cap fitted over the screw so I will look slightly less goofy this Sunday than I did last Sunday. Obviously, I’m not looking forward to the bill at the end of the treatment :-( However, I am most grateful for the many expressions of concern & enquiries after my well-being that I’ve received this past week.

Now to worship this coming Sunday.

Sunday 8th February at 11.00 – Sung Eucharist for the Second Sunday before Lent
Our preacher on Sunday will be Rev’d Dr Karen Moritz and the readings set, have the theme of Creation. We will hear part of Psalm 104, together with a New Testament reading from Colossians 1. 15-20. The Gospel reading is the famous prologue from the Fourth Gospel, John 1. 1-14. There will be parallel Children’s Ministry and, following worship, Coffee Hour in the hall on the third floor of Klimentská 18.

Tuesday 10th February – 18.30-20.00 in the small meeting room on the first floor of Klimentská 18.
Our regular Tuesday evening meetings for Study and Fellowship continue this coming Tuesday with our fourth & final Bible Study looking at St. Paul’s Letter to the Philippians. On Tuesday, we’ll be looking at the whole of Chapter Four. As is our normal pattern, we’ll spend the last twenty minutes or so, saying Evening Prayer together.

New faces are always welcome, as well as the regulars! If the outside door of Klimentská 18 is locked, please press the bell marked Kancelář & we’ll buzz you in!

There will be NO meeting on Tuesday 17th February as it is Shrove Tuesday. But there will be a Eucharist with the (voluntary) imposition of ashes, the following day Ash Wednesday 18th February at 19.00, in Church.

I hope to be able to give full details about our Lent Course, looking at the Bohemian Reformation and what we can learn from it, 600 years after the martyrdom of Jan Hus, in my Weekly Message next week. But I can tell you that it will take place on five Tuesday evenings24th February, 3rd, 10th, 17th & 24th March. Please mark those in your diaries if you haven’t already done so.

Diocesan Youth Pilgrimage to Taizé
Gordon spoke about this last Sunday morning & I’ve already had one interested enquirer. Follow this link for an electronic copy of the letter of invitation. A hard copy is also on display at the back of the Church.

Alan Schmidt
Alan Schmidt, former Churchwarden & Church Council member at St. Clement’s, has been having major problems with his hotmail email account, because of seeking to access it from various points during his recent travels, before his return to South Africa. Therefore if you’ve written to him recently, that is why you haven’t had a reply, because he has been locked out of his account. Alan is also locked out of his email address book so he cannot write to you! Therefore Alan now has a new email address alanschmidt1948(at)outlook(dot)com . He asks all his St. Clement’s friends to write to him at this new address, so he can keep in contact & also create a new email address book.

Hoping to see many of you on Sunday when I should be able to speak & smile better than last Sunday :-)

Best wishes

Ricky
