Dear People & Friends of St. Clement’s,

After being in summer mode during July & August, this coming week sees the resumption of our normal regular activities at St. Clement’s, together with one or two new things. Firstly worship!

Sunday 6th September at 11.00 – Sung Eucharist for the Fourteenth Sunday after Trinity
As well as a responsive reading of Psalm 146, our other two readings follow on directly from the passages we heard read last Sunday. We will have our second instalment from the very practical Letter of James – James 2. 1-10 & 13-17. The Gospel reading will be Mark 7. 24-37, which tells of two healing miracles by Jesus – of the daughter of a Syrophoenician woman and of a deaf mute from the region of Decapolis.

This Sunday will see the resumption of regular parallel Children’s Ministry and Cool Drinks & Light Refreshments will be served at the back of Church, following worship.

Then, as it will be the first Sunday of the month, I will be heading to Brno to celebrate Holy Communion at 17.00 in ‘The Upper Room’, corner of Jezuitská and Mozartova, Brno.

Tuesday 8th September – 18.30-20.00 in the small meeting room on the first floor of Klimentská 18.
Our regular Tuesday evening meetings for Study and Fellowship resume. Our topic for study for the next several weeks will be St. Paul’s First Letter to the Corinthians. The Church in Corinth was located in an international city and the congregation came from a wide variety of cultural backgrounds – not unlike St. Clement’s, Prague! Therefore I believe we can learn much by studying 1 Corinthians. As we normally do, the last 15-20 minutes will be spent saying Evening Prayer together. If the outside door of Klimentská 18 is locked, please press the bell marked Kancelář & you’ll be buzzed in!

Sunday 13th September at 11.00 – Sung Eucharist for the Fifteenth Sunday after Trinity
Then following worship and Cool Drinks & Light Refreshments…….

Leaving at 13.00 from Church.
Outing to the Church at Slavětín nad Ohří and its most remarkable wall paintings, where we will also hold a 1662 BCP service of Evening Prayer. The cost is CZK 200 to cover transport. There will be a sign up list at the back of Church or email: gordontruefitt(at)yahoo(dot)co(dot)uk to book your place. Full details in full-colour are here.

Please invite others to join you for this outing. Ideally, get them to come with you to worship at 11.00 :-)  If not, tell them to be outside St. Clement’s, no later than 13.00.

Two final things for this week
Sermons – Now our technical wizard, David Hellam is back from visiting the UK with his family, Sunday sermons are once again being recorded. Therefore if you follow this link, you will be able to listen to the sermon preached by Rev’d Dr Karen Moritz on Sunday 23rd August and/or to my sermon from Sunday 30th August.

David Hellam will also be leading a course introducing the basics of the Christian faith – what Christians believe & why. It will based on the well-known Alpha Course format and will take place on Thursday evenings, commencing on Thursday 17th September. Full details will be in next week’s ‘Weekly Message’ but, if you want to know more, speak with David on Sunday or drop him an email: david(at)hellam(dot)net

Best wishes

Ricky
