Dear People & Friends of St. Clement’s,

I’m writing this from my bedroom in the conference centre in Beatenberg, near Interlaken in Switzerland, where I’ve spent the past four days, attending the annual ICS Chaplains Conference. As I write, I am enjoying the most stunning view of the Swiss Alps with the sun rising upon them. The great beauty of God’s creation is all around. I’ll write a little more about the conference in next week’s ‘Weekly’, but in the meantime, I want to give you two very important reminders. Firstly……

Sunday 5th May at 11.00 – Our Eucharist will be a Joint Eucharist with the Old Catholic congregations in Prague

Even more importantly, it will NOT be at St. Clement’s Church, but at the

Old Catholic Cathedral Church of St. Lawrence on Petřín Hill.

Full details of how to get there can be found here

Some parts of the service will be in Czech but there will be a service booklet with the complete text in both languages. I will be the preacher & Bishop Dušan will be the celebrant. The Old Catholics are laying on refreshments after the service & from past experience, there will be a substantial spread :-)

Please give yourselves plenty of time to get to the OC Cathedral as there can sometimes be a bit of a queue at Ưjezd for the funicular railway up to the top of Petřín Hill. However, you may wish to walk up & enjoy the blossoms & flowers which absolutely beautiful at this time of year.

The second important reminder is……

Thursday 9th May at 19.00 – Sung Eucharist for Ascension Day

Come and join us to celebrate our Lord Jesus Christ’s ascension back into heaven, forty days after his resurrection on Easter Day. Because of this service, there will be no Tuesday evening study group on Tuesday 7th May. We will resume on Tuesday 14th May for the first of three final sessions before breaking for the summer.

Now I’m off to breakfast before commencing the long drive back to Prague!

Best wishes

Ricky
