Dear People & Friends of St. Clement’s,

We had a wonderfully large congregation for worship last Sunday morning – the eventual head count was 104! Numbers were obviously considerably increased by the visiting Choir of St. Thomas on the Bourne, Farnham, UK, along with their supporters, together with a good number of other visitors not associated with the choir. But I was also particularly pleased to have a good turnout of our regular congregation, including a number returning to Prague having been away for several weeks during July and August. One of those returnees was David Hellam, meaning that my sermon was recorded with the benefit of his technical expertise. It has now been uploaded to our Church website and you can listen to it here

Also now available here, is a text version of the sermon by Jack Noonan from the previous Sunday

I’ve had numerous expressions of appreciation for the music and worship last Sunday, both at the Church door after the service and in several subsequent emails. David did record the whole service but unfortunately, the file is over 81 KB whilst the maximum I can upload to the website, is 64 KB. I have already asked David about this technical problem and, if we can solve it, I’ll let you know via a future email.

Now looking forward to this Sunday…….

Sunday 31st August at 11.00 – Sung Eucharist for the Eleventh Sunday after Trinity
As was the case last Sunday, the Bible Readings set offer a wealth of material for me on which to preach! As well as Jeremiah 15. 15-21 from the Old Testament, the two readings from the New Testament, follow on directly from what was read last Sunday. They are Romans 12. 9-21 and Matthew 16. 21-28. If you get the opportunity in advance of Sunday morning, do try & read both passages, preferably starting at the beginning of Romans 12 & from Matthew 16. 13.

A big ‘Thank you’ to everyone who has stepped up to fill the gaps on this Sunday’s rota, in response to Tasci’s email of earlier this week. However, if we are going to have Cool Drinks & Light Refreshments following worship, we still need someone to lay them on! If you can help, please email Tasci, tgibson(at)gmail(dot)com who can also tell you what’s already there and doesn’t need to be bought or brought.

Today, I made my way to the post office at Kafkova and amazingly, didn’t have to queue, in order to pick up two postal packets. One contained the new Autumn edition of ‘The European Anglican’, our diocesan magazine. The other contained the ICS Prayer Diary Supplement for September-October. Copies of both will be available free at the back of Church on Sunday.

Looking ahead, a repeat of what I wrote last week to which it would be good to have some responses.

Tuesday evening meetings for Study & Fellowship……
……..will resume on Tuesday 9th September – 18.30-20.00 in our usual location, the small meeting room on the first floor of Klimentská 18. As previously, rather than me choosing what Bible book or topic we are to study, I would welcome suggestions from either regular or new participants. As I always say, I much prefer to ‘scratch where people are itching!’ So if you have a burning issue you would like us to tackle or part of the Bible that you would like to explore more deeply, please drop me an email with your ideas or speak with me this coming Sunday.

Finally for this week, please pray for your Church Council who will be meeting on Sunday, following worship & refreshments.

Best wishes

Ricky
