Dear People & Friends of St. Clement’s,

My ‘Weekly Message’ this week will be relatively short – just highlighting worship this coming Sunday, together with three other short announcements.

Sunday 29th May at 11.00 – Sung Eucharist for the First Sunday after Trinity
We shall read Psalm 96. 1-9 responsively. Then our second reading will be Galatians 1. 1-12, the opening verses of what may well be the earliest of St Paul’s letters to be written, dating from around 48-49AD. One of the joys of this long period of ‘Ordinary Time’ we have just entered, is that the lectionary provides for us to read through various of the New Testament letters over successive Sundays. We shall be working our way through Galatians each Sunday from now until Sunday 3rd July. Our Gospel reading will be Luke 7. 1-10, which tells of a Roman centurion whose great faith is commended by Jesus and whose servant is healed. There will be parallel Children’s Ministry and following worship, Cool Drinks & Light Refreshments will be served at the back of the Church.

Sermon

Thanks to the technical expertise of David Hellam, who seeks to record the sermon each Sunday via the Church sound system, my sermon from Trinity Sunday is available to listen to on our Church website. Click on this link to find it.

Volunteers

I’ve been approached recently by a couple of people, offering to read or help in other ways with our Sunday worship. They have been added to my ‘Rota volunteers list‘ all of whom will receive a request tomorrow, for help with services in June.

If you are not currently on the list but would be willing to read publicly, lead intercessions, be a welcomer, or help serve cool drinks & light refreshments following worship, then please get in touch with me. Provided we have enough volunteers, no one should not be on duty more than once a month. Training can be given to help with leading intercessions. If you volunteer to be a welcomer or serve post service refreshments, you’ll first be put on with an ‘old hand’ to learn what is involved. For welcoming, there is a printed check list of instructions.

Concert by the Kuhn Choir – Wednesday 1st June at 19.30 – Czech Museum of Music, Karmelitská 388/2, Praha 1

Bob MacGregor has asked me to bring this to your attention. The choir will be singing some Shakespeare songs set to music by modern composers, together with two works by the British composer Ralph Vaughan-Williams. His Mass in G minor and his setting of the Te Deum. Both are works rarely performed in the Czech Republic.

Until Sunday

Best wishes

Ricky
