Dear People & Friends of St. Clement’s,
A big ‘Thank you’ to everybody who came to worship last Sunday morning, and didn’t use the snow as an excuse for not attending. Well done too, for sitting towards the front of the Church where the under pew heating is a little more effective. It creates a greater sense of worship with everybody sitting reasonably close together & also improves the singing! Please remember to do the same this coming Sunday!
My sermon from last Sunday is available to listen to here:
And if you want to see St. Clement’s in the snow & read & see how Rev’d Dr Karen Moritz & I got on in Dresden last Sunday evening, I’ve written & posted about last Sunday & Monday here:
Now to worship this coming Sunday……
Sunday 24th January at 11.00 – Sung Eucharist for the Third Sunday of Epiphany
Continuing the Epiphany season theme of Jesus being ‘made manifest’ or ‘shown forth’, our Gospel reading will be Luke 4. 14-21, where Jesus, in the synagogue at Nazareth, reads words from the prophesy of Isaiah and then declares, ‘Today this scripture has been fulfilled in your hearing’. We will also have Psalm 19 as our responsive Psalm and hear more of what St. Paul has to say about spiritual gifts, from 1 Corinthians 12. 12-31a. There will be parallel Children’s Ministry, and following worship, Coffee Hour in the hall on the third floor of Klimentská 18.
Don’t forget to bring some tinned food and warm winter clothing and place it in the correct red wheelie bin at the back of Church, to support the work of the Salvation Army with the homeless in Prague. Thank you to everyone who started refilling the empty wheelie bins last Sunday. Likewise, if you have any used postage stamps, bring them & put them in the collecting envelope pinned to the noticeboard at the back of the Church to support the work of the Intercontinental Church Society, who in turn, support us. Again, thanks to those who have already helped to fill the collection envelope.
And on Tuesday evening……
Tuesday 26th January – 18.30-20.00 in the small meeting room on the first floor of Klimentská 18.
Our regular Tuesday evening meetings for Study and Fellowship continue, looking at St. Paul’s First Letter to the Corinthians. As we normally do, the last 15-20 minutes will be spent saying Evening Prayer together. If the outside door of Klimentská 18 is locked, please press the bell marked Kancelář & you’ll be buzzed in!
I’m keeping it relatively short & sweet this week :-)
Best wishes
Ricky
