Dear People & Friends of St. Clement’s,

This week’s ‘Weekly Message’ has three main points – just like any good sermon! Our worship this coming Sunday; the last of our Tuesday evening study group meetings before Lent begins, and full details of our planned Lent course.

Sunday 23rd February 2014 at 11.00 – Sung Eucharist for the Second Sunday before Lent

The theme of creation runs through each of our three readings. The Old Testament reading, Genesis 1. 1 – 2. 3, is the familiar creation narrative which I’m sure most of us think we know, but I wonder when was the last time you read it or heard it read? The New Testament reading is Romans 8. 18-25 which speaks of ‘the whole of creation groaning’, awaiting its redemption. The Gospel reading, Matthew 6. 25-34, is a further part of the Sermon on the Mount, in which Jesus asks his hearers to consider the birds of the air and the lilies of the field and how God cares for them. There will be parallel Children’s Ministry and Coffee Hour will follow the service.

Tuesday 25th February 18.30-20.00 in the small meeting room on the first floor of Klimentská 18

Our regular Tuesday evening Study & Fellowship Meetings have their final session, studying the Letters of John from the New Testament. This coming Tuesday, we shall be looking at 3 John. We will finish by saying Evening Prayer together. If the ground floor door of Klimentská 18 is locked, press the bell marked Kancelář & we’ll buzz you in!

Lent 2014

As I briefly wrote last week and as Rev’d Dr Karen Moritz explained last Sunday morning, this year we are planning a Lent course with a difference. Entitled ‘Discerning your Spiritual Gifts‘, it involves a fun interactive process, will be led by Karen and take place on five Tuesday evenings during Lent – 11th, 18th & 25th March, 1st & 8th April. Full details all about the course can be found here. Please read it through and seriously consider joining us on what I believe will be an interesting journey of discovery & a way of building up the spiritual life of St. Clements. A printed version of these course details will also be in the Weekly Bulletin this coming Sunday.

That’s my three points! Until Sunday……

Best wishes

Ricky
