Dear People & Friends of St. Clement’s,

There is a busy week ahead in the life of St. Clement’s so let me straight away remind you of what there is to look forward to.

Sunday 19th January 2014 at 11.00 – Sung Eucharist for the Second Sunday of Epiphany

Although we are in Year A of the three-year cycle of Lectionary Bible Readings when the Gospel of Matthew predominates, this coming Sunday we read of the call of the first disciples, as recorded in the Gospel of John – John 1. 29-42. The passage is quite instructive as it shows that some of Jesus’ twelve disciples were originally disciples of John the Baptist. There will be parallel Children’s Ministry and Coffee Hour following worship.

Tuesday 21st January 18.30-20.00 in the small meeting room on the first floor of Klimentská 18

Our regular Tuesday evening Study & Fellowship Meetings continue studying the Letters of John from the New Testament. We had an excellent first session last Tuesday. This coming Tuesday, we shall be looking at 1 John 2. 3-29. We will finish by saying Evening Prayer together. If the ground floor door of Klimentská 18 is locked, press the bell marked Kancelář & we’ll buzz you in!

Friday 24th January 19.00 for 19.30-23.00 – Burn’s Night Ceilidh

There are only a few places left for what promises to be a fun evening. Therefore, if you haven’t yet done so, make sure you drop Gordon Truefitt an email gordontruefitt(at)yahoo(dot)co(dot)uk or call/text 606 190 604 to book your ticket as soon as possible to avoid disappointment. You have all previously had the details & they are also on our Church website here  .

Some future dates for your diary

At our meeting last Sunday, your Church Council fixed the date for the Annual Church Meeting as Sunday 6th April 2014, immediately following worship. If you are one of the sixty-one people on our current Church Electoral Roll, please put the date in your diary and plan to be in attendance that morning.

We are very fortunate to two gifted people in our congregation who are licensed to preach – Jack Noonan and Rev’d Dr Karen Moritz. I am delighted to be able to tell you that Jack will be preaching on Sunday 9th February and Karen on Sunday 2nd March.

A plea for more volunteers

Many of you enjoy attending Coffee Hour following our worship each Sunday during the winter months. It is a great opportunity to share fellowship as well as a chance to warm up a little having been sitting in a relatively cold Church ;-) . However, Coffee Hour is only possible if we have people prepared to run it. Since Caroline Studdert moved to the UK, late last year, just four people have been willing to run Coffee Hour – Tasci Gibson, Vina Bendová, Monika Kékesi and Darina Vystrčilová. My grateful thanks to all of them. In an ideal world, we would like to have at least four more people, meaning that each person would only be required to do it, once every six to eight weeks.

Would you be willing to help? It is an ideal task for someone who doesn’t feel able read publicly, or get to Church early to act as a Welcomer, but would like to play their part in the running of our Church. Tasci has prepared a most helpful instruction sheet/check list & has offered to guide new volunteers until they are familiar with what is involved. Interested? Then please speak with Tasci who is running Coffee Hour this coming Sunday, or email her tgibson02(at)gmail(dot)com .

That’s enough for this week!

Best wishes

Ricky
