Dear People & Friends of St. Clement’s,

As my ‘Church Book & Desk Diary for 2013’ tells me, this coming Sunday, ‘Passiontide begins’. The fifth Sunday of the season of Lent, is also known as ‘Passion Sunday‘ and marks the beginning of the most solemn part of the Christian Year, the two weeks that lead us to Palm Sunday (24th March), followed by Holy Week & Easter Day. But as at least a couple of our Irish members have also been very quick to point out to me, this coming Sunday is also St. Patrick’s Day. So in our worship, we’ll try to ensure that we reflect on both of our Lord’s passion as well as the life and example of St. Patrick.

Sunday 17th March at 11.00 – Sung Eucharist for Passion Sunday

As I told the congregation last Sunday morning, our preacher this coming Sunday will be Matthew Moistner, who is currently exploring a possible vocation to train for ordained ministry in the Anglican Church. Matthew has an important interview with the Diocesan Director of Ordinands shortly after Easter and before that, he is required to have preached a sermon. So please come & support Matthew on Sunday & do give him feedback afterwards. He is going to be concentrating on the Gospel Reading which is John 12. 1-8, which describes the anointing of Jesus at Bethany.

There will be parallel Children’s Ministry & the service will be followed by Coffee Hour.

Tuesday 19th March – 18.30-20.00 in the small meeting room on the first floor of Klimentská 18.

Our final Lent Tuesday study of the Psalms – Psalm 23 led by Gordon Truefitt & followed by Evening Prayer.

Sunday 24th March at 11.00 – Palm Sunday Sung Eucharist

Our worship on Palm Sunday will be enhanced by the visit of the choir of Emmanuel College, Cambridge. And following the service, instead of Coffee Hour, there will be a Bring & Share Lunch in the hall on the third floor of Klimentská 18. The lunch is entitled ‘A Taste of Home‘. If possible, please bring a dish that is typical of where you originally come from and which can be easily shared.

Several other things to note…..

The wheelie bin in which we have been collecting tinned food to help the Salvation Army with their work with the homeless in Prague, is now back in Church! But of course, it’s empty! So next time you’re in your local Albert, Billa, Tesco or Kaufland, please buy a few extra cans of tinned food & bring them with you to Church on Sunday & help us start refilling the wheelie bin.

The form for the nomination of up to nine members of the Church Council, is on the noticeboard at the back of Church. Each candidate needs a proposer & seconder, together with the written consent of the candidate. All three need to be members of the new Church Electoral Roll (CER) which in its current form, is also on display on the noticeboard. A reminder to the two or three people I’m aware of, who ought to have applied to join the new CER, but have yet to submit their application forms, that you must do so no later than Easter Sunday – 31st March 2013 if you want to give them directly to Sybille or myself, or sign & scan them electronically/post them to arrive no later than Saturday 6th April at the Chaplaincy Flat. The Annual Church Meeting will take place on Sunday 21st April 2013, immediately following worship that morning.

Don’t forget to explore this website. Here you will find details of all our services up to & including Easter Day. You can also listen to all but one of the recent sermons at St. Clement’s including Gordon’s talk on giving from last Sunday. David Hellam is currently trying to electronically rescue the missing sermon – mine from Sunday 3rd March.

Come & join us for Passiontide & St. Patrick on Sunday!

Best wishes

Ricky
