Dear People & Friends of St. Clement’s,

This coming Sunday sees the third most important festival in the Christian Year – the Feast of Pentecost, celebrating the gift of the Holy Spirit. But before that on Saturday…..

Saturday 14th May: MINI-PILGRIMAGE to KUTNA HORA.
This time we visit the significant historic UNESCO town of Kutna Hora and especially;  the Cathedral and monastery of St Mary and St John, All Saints church and ossuary containing the beautifully decorative bones of 40,000 people who died during the 30 Years War, and the magnificent cathedral of St. Barbora.  We plan to leave at noon from Prague Main Station and be back again by 6pm; having had a very pretty train trip, lunch, visited the three churches and had a look around the town.  If you`d like full details; contact Gordon at gordontruefitt(at)yahoo(dot)co(dot)uk or by phone/text to 606 190 604.

Sunday 15th May at 11.00 – Sung Eucharist for Pentecost
As we have in the last three years, I invite you to come to Church on Pentecost Sunday, wearing something RED. Early in the service, we will hear the Pentecost story from Acts 2. 1-21, followed by the words, ‘The Lord is here. His Spirit is with us‘. I then want to hear those same words, ‘The Lord is here. His Spirit is with us.‘ in as many languages as possible. If you can say those words in any language other than English, please let me know by email. My thanks to all those who have already been in touch with me.

The supporting reading will be Romans 8. 14-17 whilst the Gospel Reading will be John 14. 8-17. There will be parallel Children’s Ministry and following worship, Cool Drinks & Light Refreshments should be served at the back of the Church. However, we do still need someone to organise this! Most things that will be needed are already stored in the Vestry. We just need someone willing to help set up at the back of the Church towards the end of the service & then serve the cool drinks. If you can help, please send me an email.

Your Church Council at its meeting last Sunday, decided that we would move from Coffee Hour in Klimentská 18, to Cool Drinks & Light Refreshments from this Sunday, because of the arrival of warm weather. No doubt as a result of this decision, the weather will turn cold again :-(

A Message from Rev’d Dr Karen Moritz
I was in touch with Karen this week & she asked me to pass on the following message.

‘I want to thank everyone for their generous farewell on Sunday 17th April.  Your generosity really touched me.  Your generous gift helped me with many of the unexpected expenses related to my return to the US.  Everything is going well but it has been quite hectic.  I think of you all often and I miss all of you so much.  My thoughts and prayers are with you.  I’ll let you know when I have some news about my next call, I am still waiting.  Please know that you are all in my thoughts and prayers’.

A new Webmaster
As part of preparing for less than a year’s time, when Sybille & I will no longer be in Prague, the Church Council is looking for someone to takeover the role of webmaster for our Church website. It runs on a WordPress blog and is all in English, despite being a .cz top-level domain. Sybille will happily help with the handover & is willing to answer any questions a prospective new webmaster might have! Interested? Then please drop me an email, or speak with either Sybille or me on Sunday.

Collecting tinned food and clothing to support the work of the Salvation Army with the homeless in Prague
As I explained last Sunday, I successfully delivered the contents of both red wheelie bins at the back of the Church, to the Salvation Army Hostel in Holešovice on Friday 6th May. Petr, my Salvation Army contact, asked me to pass on his thanks to all of you for all you have donated. Both bins are therefore now waiting to be refilled! Please remember, it is ONLY clothing, for both men & women, that we are collecting, together with tinned food – NOT bottles or packets.

Best wishes

Ricky
