Dear Worshippers and Friends of St. Clement’s,

Today is Ascension Day, an important but much neglected festival in the Christian Year. Therefore, I encourage you to join us this evening…

Thursday 30th May at 19.00 – Ascension Day
Although not a public holiday in the Czech Republic, despite it being so in many neighbouring countries, I do hope many of you will still join us to mark this important day and celebrate the Ascension of Jesus into heaven at the end of his forty day resurrection appearances. The Bible Readings are Acts 1: 1-11, Ephesians 1: 15-23 and Luke 24: 44-53.

The Hymns are Hail the day that sees him rise (omit verses 3 & 8) Llanfair, Rejoice! The Lord is King Gopsal , Alleluia, sing to Jesus Hyfrydol and The head that once was crowned with thorns St. Magnus. Even after contacting as many as six organists, we still do not have confirmation from any organist for playing today. If you know someone who could possibly play please get them in touch with me immediately.

Then follows one Sunday that falls between Ascension Day and Pentecost Sunday..

Sunday 2nd June at 11.00 – Sung Eucharist for the Seventh Sunday of Easter
Our Gospel reading will be John 17. 20-26, part of what is known as Jesus’ ‘High Priestly Prayer’, where Jesus prays that his followers ‘may all be one’. The supporting readings are Acts 16. 16-34, where we read of a healing of a slave girl by Paul which leads to imprisonment of Paul and Silas in Philippi but ultimately vindicated by God’s miraculous involvement and Psalm 97 which we will readresponsively, declaring that ‘The Lord is king, most high in all the earth’.

The Hymns are Hail the day that sees him rise (omit v3 & 8) Llanfair, Come, Holy Ghost, our hearts inspire Nun danket all, O Thou, who at thy Eucharist didst pray Song 1 andWe have a gospel to proclaimFulda
