There’s a lot of new information in this week’s weekly message, so please read it carefully.
Sunday 3rd March at 11.00 – Sung Eucharist for the Sunday next before Lent
Our Gospel reading, Luke 9. 28-36, is the account of theTransfiguration, where the emphasis throughout the episode is on the dazzling attestation of Jesus’ identity and glory. The supporting readings are Exodus 34. 29-35, which tells us that Moses’ countenance glows throughout this scene of covenant renewal, needing to veil his face from the people of Israel, because it was shining from being in the presence of God and 2 Corinthians 3. 12 – 4. 2, where Paul makes reference to the story in Exodus, saying that in Christ, that veil is removed and God by his Spirit, is transforming us, …’from one degree of glory to another’. There will be parallel Children’s Ministry, and following worship, Refreshments at the back of the church as the hall where we usually have Coffee Hour is undergoing reconstruction.
It being the first Sunday of the month, I will be off to Brno for our regular monthly service there..
Sunday 3rd March at 17.00 in Brno– Holy Communion with Hymns for the Sunday next before Lent
Before our worship service there, the Brno Christians United will hold an Ecumenical Prayer at the Church of Assumption of Virgin Mary starting at 14.30. If you have friends or family in and around Brno, do encourage them to be a part of this and then our worship service which starts at 17.00. Then on Tuesday we meet for our ongoing Bible Study series..
Tuesday 5th March from 18.30 to 20.00 – Pre-Lent Bible Study
A big ‘Thank You’ to all those who joined us last Tuesday. I must mention that we had a wonderful fellowship. Now this coming Tuesday we meet for Bible Study on Prophet Malachi in the hall on the first floor of Klimentska 18. It being Shrove Tuesday, I will be bringing Pancakes and like last time, Indian food for everyone attending making it easier for those of you who come directly from work to participate without worrying about a meal when you get back home. I would be grateful if you could drop a line and mention any dietary restriction(s), making it easier for me to arrange. However, do not hesitate to join if you decide at the last moment. It is an opportunity to meet new people, deepen relationships and learn from the Word of God. If the door of the main building is locked, press the bell marked Sborový Kancelářand we will buzz you in!
Then on Wednesday, Lent begins!
Wednesday 6th March at 18.00 – Ash Wednesday Eucharist
Please make every effort to join us on Wednesday evening, to mark the beginning of this penitential season. Within the service, there will be voluntary imposition of ashes. Again, this reminds me to thank everyone who gave the Palm Crosses from last year(s) for making ‘ash’ for this service.

Church Electoral Roll – The rules that govern the Church of England, under whose jurisdiction we come, once every six years, our Church Electoral Roll has to be completely revised and current members who want to remain on it, all need to re-apply, together with new people who are now eligible to join. The forms are available at the back of the church and also for download on the church website by following the link http://susanaj10.sg-host.com//wp-content/uploads/2013/01/ER-New.pdf and either hand it over to Chaplaincy’s Electoral Roll Officer – Sue Entzinger or to me or send it via post to my address latest by 29th March 2019 as the final electoral roll has to be completed atleast fifteen days before the Annual Church Meeting which will be held on Sunday 14th April 2019 following our worship service.
