Dear People & Friends of St. Clement’s,

Please do join us again for worship this coming Sunday!

Sunday 19th October at 11.00 – Sung Eucharist for the Eighteenth Sunday after Trinity
The Biblical readings set for this Sunday are Isaiah 45. 1-7 where Cyrus, King of Persia is declared to be anointed by God to be an instrument for his purposes. Psalm 96, which calls us to ‘Ascribe to the Lord the honour due to his name’ and to ‘Worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness’. The Gospel reading is Matthew 22. 15-22 where, in answer to a trick question, Jesus tells his hearers to ‘Render to Caesar, the things that are Caesar’s and to God, the things that are God’s’. There will be parallel Children’s Ministry and following worship, Cool Drinks & Light Refreshments will be served at the back of the Church.

Then on Tuesday evening……

Tuesday 21st October 18.30-20.00 in the small meeting room on the first floor of Klimentská 18
We will start a new study series entitled Difficult Parables. Our first will be the one I avoided preaching about last Sunday :-)   – the parable of the wedding banquet as recorded in Matthew 22. 1-14. What are we to make of the drastic punishment that was meted out to the man who wasn’t correctly dressed? I’d welcome your ideas & not just mine! As we usually do, we’ll end our session by saying Evening Prayer together. If the ground floor door of Klimentská 18 is locked, press the bell marked Kancelář & we’ll buzz you in!

Future Tuesday evenings
Looking ahead, there will be no meeting on Tuesday 28th October. That day is a public holiday, most international schools have the week as a half/mid term break & I’ll be flying to the UK that evening! However, we will resume meeting on Tuesday 4th November  and I would welcome suggestions of other parables of Jesus that you find difficult that you think we should tackle.

A couple of other things……
Last week, I included a link to the first half of an interview I gave to Adam Snellgrove,
who broadcasts an Expats Bulletin in English each weekday, on Radio Praha. If you didn’t follow it last week, it’s still available to listen to online here . The second half was eventually broadcast on Wednesday of this week and can be listened to online here . The previous day’s broadcast featured our own David Hellam, ‘the IT wiz of the Prague Riverside School and the Code Week Ambassador for Czech Republic’, which you can also listen to online here .

But despite being an IT wiz, David unfortunately had a problem again with his equipment when seeking to record my sermon last Sunday. Therefore I’m afraid it isn’t available to listen to on our Church website as would normally be the case. Please accept both David’s & my apologies.

Until Sunday!

Best wishes

Ricky
