Dear Worshippers and Friends of St. Clement’s,
We are in Holy Week leading to the most important festival of Easter. Before we celebrate
Lord’s resurrection let us share and remember Christ’s passion by
participation in a sequence of services marking the Maundy Thursday and
Good Friday. Make every effort to attend all the services..
Maundy Thursday 18th April at 19.00 – Eucharist commemorating the Last Supper
We will hear the story of the first Passover from Exodus 12. 1-14, together with the words of institution of Holy Communion as recorded by St Paul in 1 Corinthians 11. 23-26. Our Gospel reading will be John 13, 1-17 & 31b-35 which
tells of Jesus washing the disciples feet and saying, ‘I give you a new
commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you
also should love one another’.
Good Friday 19th April at 14.00 – Devotional Service
As Good Friday is now a public holiday in the Czech Republic, our service will begin at 14.00/2pm and mark the ‘Last Hour on the Cross‘. Licensed Reader John Noonan will be sharing from the Word of God during this service.
Sunday 21st April at 11.00 – Sung Eucharist celebrating Easter Day
Our readings will be Acts 10. 34-43,
which records St Peter preaching about the death and resurrection of
Jesus to the relatives and friends of Cornelius, the Roman centurion,
together with part of a great chapter all about resurrection – 1 Corinthians 15. 19-26. Our Gospel reading will be St. John’s account of the resurrection of Jesus – John 20. 1-18. Please note that there will NOT be parallel Children’s Ministry. Following worship, there will be Coffee Hour in the hall on the third floor of Klimentská 18.
Other important things…
Early Notice: On Sunday 28th April our Licensed Reader John Noonan will be leading and preaching while I will be away travelling to attend the ICS Chaplains and Families Conference in Belgium.
My sermon from last Sunday is available to read on the church website on the following link http://susanaj10.sg-host.com//14th-april-2019-palm-sunday-revd-nathanial/.
Thanks to everyone present at the ACM last Sunday. I am happy to inform you that Gordon Truefitt and Stephen Weeks will continue to serve as Churchwardens. Also, we are thankful for all the nine people who are now a part of the church council. Please remember them in your prayers as they take the responsibility to serve the community.
A ‘big thank you’ to David Hellam for coordinating the Bible Study Series and to everyone who attended. A total of 13 people participated and we had a wonderful fellowship each time.
If it was/is your birthday or wedding anniversary or any other special occasion last week or the coming week, we would be happy to share your joy and pray for you. You are invited to send to me the details by email to this address.
The Diocese has a Brexit Resources Hub under the Brexit tab on the website. You can access it by following the link https://europe.anglican.org/brexit/welcome-to-our-brexit-resources-hub-1. We join Bishop Robert in his appeal to pray at this time, especially for the decision-makers.
Yours in His Service,
Nathanial
