Dear Worshippers and Friends of St. Clement’s,

Thanks to those of you who contributed to support  the work of The Salvation Army with the homeless in Prague. Our Churchwarden Gordon Truefitt, this morning, arranged to get the contents of the bins collected. The bins need refilling urgently so that we can arrange a collection in another two months making cold weather a bit tolerable for those who do not have permanent shelter.

Now coming to this Sunday..

Sunday 14th October starting at 11.00 –Sung Eucharist for the Twentieth Sunday after Trinity

The Gospel reading is Mark 10. 17-31 where we read about the rich young man who wants to inherit the eternal life and the text invites us to lay up for our selves treasures in heaven and the supporting readings are Job 23. 1-12, 16, 17 In which we see Job is tired of arguing his case before his friends, in this reply he expresses his desire to stand personally before the Lord and Hebrews 4. 12-16 where the writer tells us about the power of God’s word and that we have a high priest who sympathizes with our weaknesses. Our preacher will be Licensed Reader John Noonan.

There will be parallel Children’s Ministry and following worship Coffee Hour in the hall on the third floor of Klimentska 18. The church council will have a meeting after the Coffee Hour.

Other important things..

My sermon from last Sunday is now available to listen to on our church website. Click here to listen.

Bishop Robert invites each one of us to pray for the civil servants working to construct the forms of agreement of Brexit and for the leaders of nations who meet next week to act in the interests of the people and common good. He has asked to consider setting aside 17th and 18th October, and join others in our larger church family, to pray specifically for the summit of Presidents/Prime Ministers of 28 EU nations in Brussels who meet to decide the terms of negotiation with UK.

On Saturday 27th October, the chaplaincy is organising environment trip from Dejvicka-Nadrazi Podbaba-Troja(Zoo). If you are interested in joining contact Environment Officer Angela Hitchens busanga2000@yahoo.co.uk. More details to follow.

Many of you may have already noticed the rise in the weekly expenditure of the chaplaincy mentioned in our printed bulletin. For those of you who haven’t, the churchwardens have signed a new lease contract with our host congregation which has led to an increase of 2000 CZK per week making the new amount to 25,610 CZK. We were benefitted from the last lease contract for the last eight years and the new setting is for atleast six years. Other than some support we get from Intercontinental Church Society(ICS), we are largely self-supporting. May I urge you to pray and think about increasing your support to the church. Here is the link to the various options available to make donation together with the contact details of the Treasurer, in the event you would like to discuss anything further, http://susanaj10.sg-host.com//about-us/finances/.

A few Sundays back, volunteers found Bible (NRSV) in the pew before closing the church. Though some of the details are mentioned on the first page but we are not able to identify to whom it belongs. If you forgot your Bible last Sunday or know someone who did, do connect them to me.

Celebratory Prayer for birthdays and wedding anniversaries or any other such occasion is a part of our regular service. You are invited to send to me the details of your birthday or any special occasion for which you would like us to pray, by email to this address.

Yours in His Service,

Nathanial
