Dear All,

As some of you know, Josef Koenig, the lay vice-president of the Old Catholic Church here in the Czech Republic, died after a short illness on 15th July 2011. Josef has  worshipped with us at St. Clements on numerous occasions, both during ecumenical services and on ‘normal’ Sundays. He was known to many at St. Clements and a strong advocate for the ordination of women and ecumenical friendship. He was very engaged in the ecumenical dialogue, not only here in the Czech Republic, but also on an European and international level, and the to-go-to person for everything relating to Old-Catholic – Episcopal / Anglican communications. He was also a good friend of Sybille and mine and we will miss him greatly.

The funeral will take place at the Old Catholic Cathedral on Monday 25th July 2011 at 13:00 and will be followed by the burial at Břevnov cemetery. After this a social gathering is planned to celebrate his life and to exchange memories of this remarkable personality. There will be a bus available to take people from the cathedral to Břevnov. Please contact the bishop’s office if you want to avail yourself of this offer:
