Dear People & Friends of St. Clement’s,

For those who have not already heard it, this week’s ‘Weekly Message’ starts with an important news item – the name of our new Anglican Diocesan Bishop has been announced. He is Canon Dr Robert Innes, currently Senior Chaplain & Chancellor of the pro-Cathedral of Holy Trinity, Brussels. More details can be found here on the Archbishop of Canterbury’s website.
& here on our Diocese in Europe website

I’m very much looking forward to meeting our Bishop designate at the ICS Chaplains Conference next week, & as he will formerly come into post on 1st September, I’m very hopeful that he will be in Prague attending the Eastern Archdeaconry Synod that we are hosting between 25th-28th September.

Now to more immediate matters!

Sunday 11th May at 11.00 – Sung Eucharist for the Fourth Sunday of Easter
Two of our three Bible readings set for this Sunday, have things to say about sheep and shepherds. They are the Gospel reading, John 10. 1-10, and 1 Peter 2. 19-25. Before that, we’ll also hear about the activities of the very Early Church, as described in Acts 2. 42-47. There will be parallel Children’s Ministry and the service will be followed by Coffee Hour. Please note that the Prague Marathon takes place on Sunday, meaning that public transport will be disrupted & roads closed. So please allow more time to get to Church & check carefully on the DPP website

As I advised last week, after worship on on Sunday 11th May, I will be away from Prague for nearly two weeks until late on Saturday 24th May. I shall be attending the ICS Chaplains & Families Conference being held this year in the UK, at a conference centre on the Leicestershire-Northamptonshire border near Market Harborough. This will be followed by a week of annual leave which I will spend visiting my two adult children & my two sisters. On Sunday 18th May, I shall be having a bit of a busman’s holiday, as I shall be making a deputation visit on behalf of ICS, preaching in two supportive Churches in Northamptonshire.

Here in Prague on that Sunday…….

Sunday 18th May at 11.00 – Morning Prayer for the Fifth Sunday of Easter
The service will be led by Jack Noonan and the preacher will be Rev’d Dr Karen Moritz. The readings will be Psalm 31. 1-5 & 15-16; Acts 7. 55-60 and 1 Peter 2. 2-10. There will as usual, be parallel Children’s Ministry and the service will be followed by Coffee Hour. I am most grateful to both Jack & Karen for kindly agreeing to take responsibility for worship in my absence.

Saturday 24th May at 11.00 – A walk from Roztoky to Únětický pivovar
Nia Voase is kindly organising a walk up the Tiché Údóli valley, beginning in Roztoky and finishing at Únětický pivovar where everyone can have a drink &/or lunch. The meeting point will be outside Pension Tiché Údóli which is on the corner of Nádražní & Tiché Údóli in Roztoky.

To get to Roztoky, you need to take the Green line Metro to Dejvická. Then you need to transfer to either the 340 or 350 bus to Roztoky nádraží. These currently leave from outside the 5th Avenue fashion shop on Jugoslávských partyzánů. As ever, the DPP website is your friend   Please let Nia know if you are planning to come by emailing her, niavoase(at)hotmail(dot)com so she knows not to set off without you! This event is an excellent opportunity for members of the congregation to get to know each other better as well as being something to which you can invite your non-worshipping friends.

Finally for this week…..

….this may well be the last ‘Weekly Message‘ from me for a couple of weeks, whilst I am away. However, all the details of our services can be found here on the Church website where you can also listen to the sermons that have been preached in recent weeks.

Until Sunday

Best wishes

Ricky
