Dear People & Friends of St. Clement’s,

Please do plan to join us for worship again at St Clement’s this coming Sunday.

Sunday 12th February at 11.00 – Sung Eucharist for the Third Sunday before Lent

As I explained in both last week’s ‘Weekly Message’, and on last Sunday morning, our Gospel readings on the first three of these four pre-Lent Sundays, are taken from Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount. This coming Sunday, we shall hear Matthew 5. 21-37 where Jesus has some quite powerful and challenging things to say about anger, reconciliation, adultery and making oaths. We will also hear a further part of St Paul’s first letter to the Church in Corinth – 1 Corinthians 3. 1-9, and say Psalm 119. 1-8 responsively. There will be parallel Children’s Ministry and following worship, Coffee Hour in the hall on the third floor of Klimentská 18.

Following worship and refreshments, I shall be heading for Praha hlavní nádraží, travelling by train to Dresden, where I shall be officiating and preaching at the monthly English-language Anglican Service of Evening Prayer in the Frauenkirche starting at 18.00. The following day, Monday 13th February, will be the 72nd anniversary of the allied bombing raid that destroyed so much of the historic centre of the city, together with horrific loss of life. I’m planning to stay on a little longer on Monday, in order to attend the beginning of the ‘Silent Remembrance’ event to mark the anniversary. If you are interested, details, in German, can be found here:

Your Chaplain will be on annual leave, Monday 13th-Monday 20th February inclusive

Therefore, there will NOT be a study group on Tuesday 14th February. But then I’m sure at least some of you, will be wanting to be romantic that evening  :-)

Sunday 19th February at 11.00 – Sung Eucharist for the Second Sunday before Lent

In my absence, your celebrant will be Rev’d Nathanial and your preacher will be Jack Noonan. The Biblical readings will be the creation narrative found in Genesis 1. 1 – 2. 3, and part of St Paul’s letter to the Church in Rome – Romans 8. 18-25. The Gospel reading will be a further section of the Sermon on the Mount – Matthew 6. 25-34. There will be parallel Children’s Ministry and following worship, Coffee Hour in the hall on the third floor of Klimentská 18.

I will return to duty on Tuesday 21st February, ready for:

Tuesday 21st February 18.30-20.00 in the small meeting room on the first floor of Klimentská 18

Our Tuesday night meetings for study & fellowship will resume looking at various Psalms. This evening we’ll tackle Psalms 24 & 25. As usual, we will spend the last part of our time together saying Evening Prayer. If the ground floor door of Klimentská 18 is locked, press the bell marked Sborový Kancelář & we’ll buzz you in!

And finally for this week…..

……..my sermon from last Sunday, nearly twelve minutes about salt and light :-)  , is now available to listen to online here:

Best wishes

Ricky
