Dear People & Friends of St. Clement’s,

A big ‘Thank you!’ to David Hellam, the children and young people, aided by NAME and NAME, for their wonderful contribution to our worship last Sunday morning. David’s address on the life of John the Baptist is now up on our Church website and can be listened to by following this link:

We also had an amazing congregation – eighty in total – bearing in mind that we normally average at around fifty. Thank you too, to everyone who supported the Bake Sale at Coffee Hour last Sunday. We raised a total of CZK 1700 towards Bishop’s Advent Appeal.

Now looking ahead…

Firstly, a reminder that later today, St Clement’s will once more be hosting an Ecumenical Carols event, raising funds for UNICEF starting at 17.00 this afternoon. Then….

Sunday 11th December at 11.00 – Sung Eucharist for the Third Sunday in Lent

This coming Sunday, we get our second dose of John the Baptist, the one who prepared the way for the coming of Christ. Our Gospel reading will be Matthew 11. 2-11, which tells of Jesus praising the ministry of John the Baptist. The supporting readings will be Isaiah 35. 1-10 and James 5. 7-10. Our preacher will be Rev’d Nathanial. There will be parallel Children’s Ministry and following worship, Coffee Hour in the hall on the third floor of Klimentská 18.

Following Coffee Hour, I shall be off down the D1, for a Service of Lessons and Carols, starting at 16.30, in ‘The Upper Room’, corner of Jezuitská and Mozartova, Brno.

However, if you are in Prague on Sunday evening, you might want to go along to:

Then a reminder that we have two services, the following Sunday.
Sunday 18th December at 11.00 – Sung Eucharist for the Fourth Sunday in Advent
The service will include a baptism and will be followed by Coffee Hour in the hall on the third floor of Klimentská 18.

Then in the evening, starting at 18.30:

At both services on Sunday 18th December, we will be joined by a visiting choir from the UK – the Old Blundellians Choir, under their Musical Director NAME. In the morning, they will sing Kyrie, Sanctus, Benedictus and Agnus Dei to a setting written by Andrew Barlow and support our congregational singing. In the evening, they will sing several choir carols and likewise support our congregational carol singing. Both services, especially the evening Carol Service, are a great opportunity to invite your irregular worshipping or non-worshipping friends :-)

Finally for this week…..
A further reminder about our St Clement’s Christmas Cards of which the picture below is the front cover.

Inside each card is a photo of St Clement’s in the snow, a few details advertising our Church including our website address, and a Christmas greeting in both English & Czech. The cards will be available for sale at the back of Church again this coming Sunday & at every service between now and Christmas. A pack of ten cards with envelopes sells for CZK 200 with all profits going to support the work of St Clement’s.

Best wishes

Ricky
