Dear People & Friends of St. Clement’s,

This week’s ‘Weekly Message’ is in three parts.

1. An reminder & update of forthcoming services & activities in June.

2. A couple of news items.

3. A couple of appeals for help.

Therefore……..

1. An reminder & update of forthcoming services & activities in June.

Sunday 10th June at 11.00 – Sung Eucharist for the First Sunday after Trinity.

As we are now in what is known as ‘Ordinary Time’, our Gospel readings in Year B of the three-year lectionary cycle, return to the Gospel of Mark with a reading from chapter 3. 20-35. We shall also hear the familiar story of the Fall from Genesis 3. 8-15 whilst the Psalm is Psalm 130. Why not have a read for yourselves in advance of hearing each passage read publicly on Sunday morning? There will be parallel Children’s Ministry and the service will be followed by Cool Refreshments served at the back of Church. In the absence of Caroline, this Sunday’s Cool Refreshments are being organised by Beatrice Hellam, I assume with assistance from her older sister & parents :-)

Also on Sunday evening at 18.00 – Czechoslovak Hussite Church, Nové sady 32a, Brno – Holy Communion with hymns

If any of you have English-speaking friends living in & around Brno, please tell them about our monthly Sunday evening services on the second Sunday of each month. Full details, including a photographic map can be found on the Brno page of our website

Tuesday 12th June 18.30-20.00 in the small meeting room on the first floor of Klimentská 18

The fourth in our series of studies looking at how Jesus is portrayed in various parts of the New Testament looks at Jesus as portrayed in the Letters of Paul.

Advance Notice – Sunday 24th June following our 11.00 Eucharist – Church Family Picnic in the Park

After worship in two weeks time & before everyone disappears on holiday, we are going to have a Church Family Picnic in the park on Lannova which lies between St. Clement’s Church and the Vltava River. Look out for more details next week but please mark this in your diaries now & don’t make any other lunchtime arrangements for Sunday 24th June!

2. A couple of news items.

St. Clement’s Polo Shirts – the first batch to complete all the orders that have been placed thus far, together with some additional supplies, will be delivered next week & will be available for collection and payment in Church, on Sunday 17th June. If you ordered a shirt(s), please bring CZK 500 for each shirt ordered on Sunday 17th June.

The European Anglican, the free magazine produced by our Anglican Diocese in Europe, has a brand new edition. Copies will be available to collect and take away this Sunday from the table at the back of Church.

3. A couple of appeals for help.

Caroline Studdert, who so faithfully runs Coffee Hour in winter & Cool Refreshments in summer, is away for the next four Sundays, awaiting the arrival of her second grandchild. As mentioned above, Cool Refreshments for this coming Sunday are covered. We may have Sunday 17th June also covered but might need a willing volunteer. But we definitely need a volunteer for Sunday 1st July. If you could help that day, please drop me a line ASAP or speak with me this Sunday at Church.

Please remember the wheelie Bin at the back of Church in which we are collecting tinned items of food to help the Salvation Army in feeding homeless men & women in Prague. Basically we need any food item in a tin but NOT sauces, pasta or other dried goods in packets or plastic bottles. It was good last Sunday, to hear several ‘clumps’ as people deposited tins into the wheelie bin. Please may we have a few more ‘clumps’ this coming Sunday :-)

That’s enough for this week. I look forward to seeing many of you in Church this coming Sunday at 11.00.

Best wishes

Ricky
