Dear People & Friends of St. Clements,

Just as it is always good to start our prayers by giving thanks to God for his goodness & for answers to our prayers, so I want to start this Message by saying , ‘Thank you’, several times!

Thank you to everyone who made the Church Family Picnic on Sunday 26th June such a great success. Many people have said to me how much they enjoyed the event & that we should do it again. Your Church Council have duly taken note and are planning a similar picnic on Sunday 18th September following our Harvest Festival Service. More details will follow in due course.

Thank you to Peter Morpuss, who by running the Prague Half-Marathon, raised 13,470 Kč for Church funds. Thank you too, to everybody who sponsored him.

Thank you to everybody who responded to my appeal regarding a new altar cloth & purificators for St. Clement’s. I shall be replying to all of you very shortly. I am in touch with a supplier to ascertain the cost of obtaining an altar cloth of the dimensions we need & am awaiting a further reply having given them some additional information that they required. Rest assured, ‘Jesus will soon have a new tablecloth’ as Marshall Johnson so eloquently put it!

Looking ahead…….

Sunday 10th July at 11am – Sung Eucharist for the Third Sunday after Trinity

The Epistle set for this coming Sunday is Romans 8. 1-11 whilst the Gospel Reading is Matthew 13. 1-9 & 18-23 which is the familiar parable of the sower. As I so often suggest, why not read the passages in advance of hearing them read publicly during our worship? Cool refreshments will be served at the back of Church following the service.

Then between Monday 11th July – Monday 25th July, Sybille & I will be on Annual Leave/Holiday/Vacation. During this time, we will be somewhere within the boundaries of the Czech Republic so if there is a real emergency, then do call me on the Chaplaincy mobile 737 039 082 which I will have with me. And there will still be worship at St. Clement’s on each of the two Sundays that we are away.

Sunday 17th July at 11am – Morning Prayer for the Fourth Sunday after Trinity

The service will be led by Jack Noonan and the preacher will be Rev’d Karen Moritz.

Sunday 24th July at 11am – Sung Eucharist for the Fifth Sunday after Trinity

The celebrant and preacher will be ThDr Petr Jan Vinš, the fluent English-speaking priest from the Old Catholic Church in the Czech Republic.

Details of these forthcoming services will shortly also be on our website .

Mentioning our website, reminds me to say again that we now have a Pay-Pal button there which provides an easy way for anyone to contribute towards the cost of running St. Clement’s, particularly if you are no longer in Prague but are still interested in supporting our work here. At a recent meeting of the Church Council, our Treasurer Gordon Truefit reported that a number of people had now made donations via this facility. If you were one of them – Thank you!

Because of being away on holiday from next Monday, this will be my last ‘St. Clement’s Message’ until much later this month. When I do write again, I hope to begin setting out details of various events and activities planned for the forthcoming Autumn/Fall period – watch this space!

Best wishes

Ricky
