Dear People & Friends of St. Clement’s,

Because Easter Day falls very early this year, (it falls on Sunday 31st March), it means that in turn, Lent begins early, Ash Wednesday being 13th February – next Wednesday. As a consequence, in 2013, the period of Ordinary Time between the end of the Epiphany Season on the Feast of Presentation (2nd February), and the beginning of Lent, only lasts for ten days and containing just two Sundays – last Sunday & this coming Sunday. Therefore, with that little explanation of the Church liturgical year, let me remind you of our worship during the coming week.

Sunday 10th February at 11.00 – Sung Eucharist for the Sunday next before Lent

The theme of our worship will be the Transfiguration, as recorded in Luke 9. 28-36. The other readings are Exodus 34. 29-35 and 2 Corinthians 3. 12 – 4. 2. both of which speak of reflecting God’s glory. Our preacher will be Jack Noonan. There will be parallel Children’s Ministry and the service will be followed by Coffee Hour in the hall on the third floor of Klimentská 18. My thanks to Austin & Amalija who have volunteered to run Coffee Hour for us this Sunday whilst the ever-faithful Caroline is away.

Sunday 10th February at 18.00 – Holy Communion with hymns in Brno

It being the second Sunday of the month, I shall be travelling down to Brno after Coffee Hour, to conduct our regular monthly service there in the Czechoslovak Hussite Church, Nové sady 32a, Brno. I shall have Jack Noonan for company as he is going to be the preacher in Brno too :-) If you have English-speaking friends in the South Moravia area, please do tell them about this service. More details, including how to find the Church are on the Brno page of this website.

There will NOT be a Study & Fellowship meeting on next Tuesday evening because it is Shrove Tuesday, and Lent begins the next day.

Wednesday 13th February at 19.00 – Sung Eucharist with (voluntary) imposition of ashes for Ash Wednesday

Come and mark the beginning of Lent by joining us worship on Wednesday evening in Church. As stated in the header, you don’t have to receive the imposition of ashes if you don’t wish to but it will be offered to all who would like to receive it.

An important message from the Church Treasurer – Gordon Truefitt

Everybody who gives to support the work of St. Clement’s, either by standing order or via numbered dated envelopes, should have by now received a signed & stamped certificate from Gordon, allowing each person to set their 2012 giving against the payment of Czech tax. However, Gordon has received contributions via two different numbered envelopes, for which he has no record as to who is the user of those envelopes. Therefore, if you have given in 2012 via a numbered envelope & have not received the tax certificate you were expecting, please contact Gordon ASAP, gordontruefitt (at) yahoo dot co dot uk , or speak with him in Church this Sunday.

A thank you & a reminder from the Church Electoral Roll Officer

The Church Electoral Roll Officer, aka Sybille :-)  would like to thank everyone who has completed, signed and returned their application forms for the completely new Church Electoral Roll we are required to compile this year. If you haven’t yet done so, please try & do so this coming Sunday. Full details of how to apply & who is eligible can be found on our website here where you can also download an application form. Forms are also available in a folder on the noticeboard at the back of Church. Please note, we must have completed application forms returned no later than Saturday 23rd February 2013 as the complete Church Electoral Roll has to be on display for fourteen days before the Annual Church Meeting to be held on Sunday 10th March 2013.

A reminder that…….
