Dear People & Friends of St. Clements,

This coming Sunday is the Fifth Sunday in Lent & is commonly known as ‘Passion Sunday’. My ‘Church Book & Desk Diary’ declares very clearly that ‘Passiontide begins’. Therefore by way of reminder…

Sunday 10th April at 11am – Sung Eucharist for the Fifth Sunday of Lent

For the third Sunday running, the Gospel Reading is a long passage from the Gospel of John – Chapter 11. 1-45 which tells of the raising of Lazarus from the dead. The Old Testament reading is Ezekiel 37. 1-14 which describes the prophet’s vision of a ‘Valley of Dry Bones’ who need to hear the word of the Lord. Why not try & read both passages yourself in advance of our Sunday worship?

There will Children’s Ministry led this week by Diane Tvaroha and the service will be followed by Coffee Hour in the hall on the third floor of Klimentská 18.

Last Tuesday, we had a very interesting speaker, Rev’d Dr Dennis Barton who led the fourth of our Lent Course evenings entitled What I believe and why? However, despite my best efforts, I haven’t been able to get an outside speaker for our last session this coming Tuesday. Therefore our last session on

Tuesday 12th April – 6.30pm – 8.00pm in the small meeting room on the first floor of Klimentská 18

will be an open session to both talk about the previous four presentations & give any members of the group an opportunity to talk about their own faith journey, their own dark night of the soul, etc ……

The following Sunday, 17th April, is Palm Sunday, marking the beginning of Holy Week. I shall write more next Friday about our Services for Holy Week & Easter. However, full details are already posted here on our Church website.

Talking about our website, if you visit this page, you will now be able to see exactly who was elected to form the Church Council for the coming year in full technicolour! My thanks to Sybille for taking the photographs directly following the Annual Church Meeting & for posting them on the website. As Churchwarden Steve Entwistle has previously said when giving the notices in Church, please do speak with a member of the Church Council if you have an issue you would like raised. Alternatively, drop one of us an email using the contact details on the website. Please pray for your Church Council, especially as they meet for the first time next Monday evening.

In the meantime, please do join us for worship this coming Sunday.

Best wishes

Ricky
