6th October 2017

Dear St. Clement`s Family;

For those of you who don`t already know; our Interim Chaplain Nathanial`s father died, suddenly in India on the afternoon of 22nd September, of a cerebral haemorrhage. Nathanial was of course devastated and wanted to be with his birth family; which is where he is now. Not before attending to all the foreseeable details he felt responsible for, prior to his departure. Thank you Nathanial, our thoughts and prayers are with you, and your family in India, and we look forward to looking after you when you return on Monday.

One of the things Nathanial couldn`t do was a WEEKLY for this week. So you`ve got me instead; trying to gather together all the great stuff that`s happening here in Prague & Brno. So here goes:-

Sunday 8th October at 11.00 `HARVEST FESTIVAL`
This will be a service of the Word, with David Hellam leading, preaching, and no doubt trying to get our crop of children to do all the wonderful things they devised last week – properly – and at the right time! It`s always fun – but also allows us to express our gratitude for all the good things we enjoy in life. This will be followed immediately by:-

A Bring and Share`Harvest Lunch`in Klimentska 18, 3rd floor Hall
What better way to celebrate our coming back together after the Summer? Bring a dish or a bottle and enjoy the company of everybody else and what they have brought to the table too.

`Welcome Adam!` son of Philip and Lenka Read, who was baptised by Nathanial in Brno last Sunday. We in Prague were pretty pleased; but from the reports we heard of the reception Adam got from our Brno congregation, his rellies and fans, and his parents friends, we were definitely overshadowed. (See below*)

Saturday 7th October – Bear Walk to Beroun
Angela Hitchen, our environmental officer; is organizing a trip to Beroun tomorrow; leaving by train from Smichov rail station at 10.25am for a 3km ramble through the picturesque market town, visiting the famous `Bear Park`, a pub for lunch, and returning to Prague for mid afternoon. Please contact Angela (busanga2000@yahoo.co.uk) for more information.

Tuesday 10th October – Seminar: `What on Earth is the Church for?`-3; 18.30 – 20:00 small meeting room, first floor, Klimentska 18
Join for an evening of discussion and discovery led by David Hellam on Mustard seeds, Wheat and Weeds – What do Jesus’ parables say about us?. This is the third of the seven Tuesdays that we will be looking at how we can develop a Biblical perspective on what it means to be a church in the 21st century. If the outside door of Klimentska 18 is locked, please press the bell marked `Kancelář `and you will be buzzed in. .
