Dear People & Friends of St. Clement’s,

An important reminder about this forthcoming weekend when our Diocesan Anglican Bishop will be with us in Prague. He is flying in this evening & I need to be at the airport to meet him at 18.00. He is here, both to participate in the consecration of the new Old Catholic Bishop in the Czech Republic on Saturday, and to be our Celebrant and Preacher, and to confirm at our Sung Eucharist on Sunday. So here are more details.

Saturday 1st April at 13.00 at the Basilica sv Markety – Consecration

The service will be in a mixture of Czech and English with possibly some German. I believe there will be a fully bilingual Order of Service so any English-speaker should be able to follow, even when parts of the service are in Czech. Jack Noonan will be reading one of the Bible readings in English. Members of the St Clement’s congregation are warmly invited to attend. Remember, our legal status is as the English-speaking parish of the Old Catholic Church in the Czech Republic.

Sunday 2nd April at 11.00 – Sung Eucharist & Confirmation for the Fifth Sunday of Lent

Our Bible readings will be Ezekiel 37. 1-14 which tells of the famous vision Ezekiel had of a Valley of Dry Bones; Romans 8. 6-11 which tells of the work of the Holy Spirit in the life of the believer; and John 11 1-45, the raising of Lazarus from death.  There will be parallel Children’s Ministry and following worship, Coffee Hour in the hall on the third floor of Klimentská 18 with a chance to meet with and talk to Bishop Robert.

After what I expect will be a slightly extended Coffee Hour, Bishop Robert will be meeting with your Church Council whilst I will be off down the D1, for the regular 17.00 Service of Holy Communion, ‘The Upper Room’, corner of Jezuitská and Mozartova, Brno.

Tuesday 4th April 18.30-20.00 in the small meeting room on the first floor of Klimentská 18.

The last of our Lent Study Evenings on the theme of ‘The Church’ – what is it, what should it be and what sort of Church would we like St. Clement’s to be in the future? Having last week looked at how the Early Church grew and developed, we will try to see how what we covered in previous sessions, might impact on the life of our Church today. As usual, we will spend the last part of our time together saying Evening Prayer. If the ground floor door of Klimentská 18 is locked, press the bell marked Sborový Kancelář & we’ll buzz you in!

Finally for this week…….

A reminder that following worship next Sunday, Palm Sunday 9th April, the Annual Church Meeting (ACM) will take place.

At the ACM, we will elect, two Churchwardens, up to nine additional Church Council members and two lay members of the Eastern Archdeaconry Synod. Whilst Churchwardens & Church Council members are elected for one year, the members of the Archdeaconry Synod are elected to serve for the following three years. A form for nominations for all of these positions is on the noticeboard at the back of Church. Each person nominated needs a proposer & seconder and all three must be members of the Church Electoral Roll. The consent of the proposed candidate is also required.

Whilst nominations can be made up until the beginning of worship on Sunday 9th, it would better that they be made this Sunday! A big ‘Thank you’ to all those who have already allowed their names to go forward.

Until tomorrow & then Sunday

Best wishes

Ricky
