Dear People & Friends of St. Clement’s,

It was good to be back leading worship & preaching at St Clement’s last Sunday, after being away for two weeks. We had an encouragingly large congregation for worship & the joyous baptism of the Gardiner twins – Patrik and Barbora.

There are a couple of things to tell you about before I say more about this coming Sunday & the week ahead.

Firstly, now I’m back, I’ve been able to add three new sermons onto the Church website – that by David Hellam for Harvest Festival on Sunday 11th October; by Jack Noonan on Sunday 18th October, together with mine from last Sunday. Just go here and click on the one(s) you want to listen to. My thanks as always, to David Hellam for his technical expertise in recording the sermons each week and then putting them on an SD card for me to upload to our website.

Secondly, copies of the new November 2015-February 2016 ICS News & Prayer Diary, safely arrived here in Prague yesterday and will be available FREE at the back of Church this coming Sunday. Within this new edition, there are two articles by me, one devotional, the other about the 600th anniversary of the martyrdom of Jan Hus. If anybody reading this is no longer in Prague but would still like to read the magazine, it is available online here .

Now to what’s on in the coming week.

Sunday 1st November at 11.00 – Sung Eucharist for All Saints Day
This year, the great Church festival of All Saints, falls on a Sunday so we can celebrate it on the exact correct day! Make sure you get to Church on time so you can join in all eight verses of our opening hymn, ‘For all the saints‘, to the wonderful Ralph Vaughan-Williams tune Sine nomine. Our readings will be the responsive Psalm – Psalm 24. 1-6, together with St. John’s vision of a new heaven and a new earth, recorded in Revelation 21. 1-6. The Gospel reading is the culmination of the story of the raising of Lazarus – John 11. 32-44. There will be parallel Children’s Ministry and following worship, Coffee Hour in the hall on the third floor of Klimentská 18. We will also have Remembrance poppies available again on Sunday & on the following Sunday 8th November.

Sunday 1st November at 17.00 – Holy Communion with hymns
This will take place in our usual Brno venue, ‘The Upper Room’, corner of Jezuitská and Mozartova, Brno.

Tuesday 3rd November – 18.30-20.00 in the small meeting room on the first floor of Klimentská 18.
Our regular Tuesday evening meetings for Study and Fellowship continue, looking at St. Paul’s First Letter to the Corinthians. Picking up from where we reached last Tuesday, we will be looking at 1 Corinthian 6. As we normally do, the last 15-20 minutes will be spent saying Evening Prayer together. If the outside door of Klimentská 18 is locked, please press the bell marked Kancelář & you’ll be buzzed in!

Thursday 5th November – 19:00 chez Hellam, Namesti Interbrigady 949/3, Bubenec,
between the Lotyšská and Zelená tram stops, our Alpha Course continues. It includes dinner for everyone, so if you’re planning to come tell David, david(at)hellam(dot)net or 722 223 097

Finally for this week
It was pointed out to me last Sunday, that the red wheelie bin in which we collect warm winter clothing to help the Salvation Army in their work with the homeless in Prague, is FULL! I’ve written to my contact with the Salvation Army, to try & get it emptied in the coming week. However, there is still room in the wheelie bin in which we collect tinned food! All the tins will be collected at the same time as the clothing, so please lets hear a few clunks with more tins being donated this Sunday.

Best wishes

Ricky
