Dear People & Friends of St. Clement’s,

I’m writing this, in between attending different sessions at the annual ICS Chaplains Conference, which this year is taking place in the Mennorode Conference Centre, Elspeet, Netherlands. So this week’s ‘Weekly’ will need to be quite brief.

Sunday 3rd May at 11.00 – Sung Eucharist for the Fifth Sunday of Easter
In our worship on Sunday, we will hear the story of Philip & the Ethiopian eunuch as recorded in Acts 8. 26-40, a further section of the first letter of John, 1 John 4. 7-21, whilst our Gospel reading speaks of Jesus as the true vine – John 15. 1-8. There will be parallel Children’s Ministry and following worship, Coffee Hour in the hall on the third floor of Klimentská 18. Please remember that the Prague Marathon takes place on Sunday & will inevitably disrupt public transport. So do check carefully & give yourself a little more time to get to Church.

After Coffee Hour on Sunday, I will be off to Brno for our regular monthly service starting at 17.00.

Tuesday 5th May – 18.30-20.00 in the small meeting room on the first floor of Klimentská 18.
Postponed from Tuesday 21st April, in response to several people who have expressed both their appreciation of the Lent course as well as a desire to know more about Czech Church History, I will lead a follow up evening which I’ve entitled, ‘What happened after the Battle of Bilá hora?’ This will look at the experience of the Christian Church, both Protestant & Roman Catholic, in period following 1620. As we did throughout Lent, the last twenty minutes of our time will be spent saying Evening Prayer together. If the outside door of Klimentská 18 is locked, please press the bell marked Kancelář & we’ll buzz you in!

Sunday 10th May at 11.00 – Joint Anglican – Old Catholic Eucharist in the Old Catholic Cathedral of Sv Vavřince on Petřín Hill.
The service will be in both English & Czech. Bishop Dušan will be the celebrant & I will be the preacher. There will be more details in next week’s ‘Weekly’ but please do plan to attend even though your journey to Church will need to be different to usual :-)   An additional bonus is that Petřín Hill looks absolutely beautiful at this time of year!

I hope to be back in Prague late on Friday evening, providing there aren’t too many Baustelle und Stau on the German autobahn en-route, and join the mini-pilgrimage on Saturday afternoon.

Best wishes

Ricky
