Dear People & Friends of St. Clement’s,

I’m very much looking forward to leading worship this coming Sunday in both Prague & Brno. So without further ado, here are the details of what is happening on Sunday, during the following week, and later on in the month.

Sunday 4th May at 11.00 – Sung Eucharist for the Third Sunday of Easter

We continue to celebrate Christ’s triumph over sin & death on the first Easter Day. Our Gospel reading will be Luke 24. 13-35, the account of Jesus appearing to two disciples, walking on the road to Emmaus. The supporting readings are the second part of Peter’s sermon on the day of Pentecost, Acts 2. 36-41, (we heard the first part last Sunday), and 1 Peter 1. 17-23. There will be parallel Children’s Ministry and the service will be followed by a rather special Coffee Hour as it is a young lady’s birthday & her parents want us to join in celebrating it

Sunday 4th May at 17.00 in Brno – Holy Communion with hymns in our new worship location in Brno – ‘The Upper Room’, corner of Jezuitská and Mozartova, Brno.

From this Sunday, the Brno service will be on the first Sunday evening of each month. Please do make this known to any English-speaking friends you may have in Brno & South Moravia.

Please note that I shall be staying overnight in Brno, in order to meet with Archdeacon Patrick Curran on Monday morning, for my Ministry Development Review (MDR). Having an MDR is a fairly new concept in the Diocese in Europe but is one I am very familiar with from the over fifteen years I previously spent ministering in the Diocese of Oxford.

Tuesday 6th May 18.30-20.00 in the small meeting room on the first floor of Klimentská 18

Our second post-Easter Study & Fellowship meeting takes place when we shall be looking at Acts 1. 12-26, which describes an event that took place between the first Easter Day & the coming of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost, which we rarely read or hear about. We shall end our time by saying Evening Prayer together. A reminder that if the ground floor door of Klimentská 18 is locked, press the bell marked Kancelář & we’ll buzz you in!

Sunday 11th May at 11.00 – Sung Eucharist for the Fourth Sunday of Easter

More details about this service in next week’s Weekly Message, but please note now that the Prague Marathon takes place that Sunday, meaning that public transport will be disrupted & roads closed. So please allow more time to get to Church that morning & check carefully on the DPP website

After worship on on Sunday 11th May, I will be away from Prague for nearly two weeks – from the afternoon of Sunday 11th until late on Saturday 24th May. I shall be attending the ICS Chaplains & Families Conference being held this year in the UK, at a conference centre on the Leicestershire-Northamptonshire border near Market Harborough. This will be followed by a week of annual leave which I will spend visiting my two adult children & my two sisters. I shall only be away for one Sunday – Sunday 18th May, when you will be in the very capable hands of Jack Noonan & Rev’d Dr Karen Moritz. There will be service of Morning Prayer which Jack will lead & at which Karen will preach.

Finally for this week…….

Although the weather is now warmer, please don’t forget the red wheelie bins at the back of Church, especially the one for collecting tinned food. The Salvation Army are involved with feeding the homeless in Prague year round & your contributions help them in that work.

Until Sunday

Best wishes

Ricky
