Dear People & Friends of St. Clement’s,

I’m safely back from the annual residential meeting of the Eastern Archdeaconry Synod & looking forward to being with you again at St. Clement’s on this coming Sunday morning. My grateful thanks to David Hellam for leading worship last Sunday in my absence. I shall be reporting about the Synod meeting to your Church Council, as they too are meeting this coming Sunday. But in the meantime, there is already an illustrated report on the Diocese in Europe website. Click on this link, in order to read it. You should be able to spot Jack Noonan, Gordon Truefitt & myself, all at the back of the first photograph. In the second photograph at the end of the article, as well as seeing one our speakers, Catherine Jackson, together with Archdeacon Patrick Curran, you also get a splendid view of the back of two heads – Jack’s & mine!

I’m very pleased to report that the 2014 Eastern Archdeaconry Synod meeting is to be held in Prague, between Thursday 25th -Sunday 28th September 2014. This will involve a lot of time & effort in planning during the next twelve months but will give all of you living in Prague, an opportunity to meet clergy & laity from the other Chaplaincies in our vast Archdeaconry. There is also the possibility we will be welcoming our new Anglican Diocesan Bishop who hopefully will have been appointed & be in post by then.

Later this afternoon, I’m meeting František from the Salvation Army at the Church, for him to collect all the tinned food that you have kindly donated to help with feeding the homeless in Prague. As well as leaving us the empty wheelie bin in which to once more start collecting more tinned food, he will also be leaving us a second wheelie bin for us to start collecting warm winter clothing, especially socks, underwear & trousers for both men & women. So, looking forward to Sunday……

Sunday 29th September at 11.00 – Sung Eucharist for the Eighteenth Sunday after Trinity

The Gospel Reading on Sunday is Luke 16. 19-31 which is the parable of the rich man & Lazarus, which couldn’t be more appropriate in reminding all of us about having a real concern for those less fortunate than ourselves. So please bring appropriate items to start filling the red wheelie bins! There will be parallel Children’s Ministry and Cool Drinks & Light Refreshments served at the back of Church, following our worship.

Tuesday 1st October 18.30-20.00 in the small meeting room on the first floor of Klimentská 18

Our regular midweek Study & Fellowship sessions continue. This coming Tuesday, we have the third in our series, ‘Questions of Faith‘ entitled What’s so unique about Jesus? As last week, when we had a thoroughly enjoyable and enlightening discussion, I’ll introduce the topic, but will welcome input from others. We’ll end the session by once more saying Evening Prayer together.

Right – I’m off to meet František & look forward to seeing many of you on Sunday at 11.00

Best wishes

Ricky
