Dear People & Friends of St. Clement’s,

Because Easter Day was so early this year, it does seem that we’ve been counting Sundays after Trinity for quite a long time! So far there have been twenty-one of them, but this coming Sunday is the both the twenty-second and the last one. And it is going to be a a very special Sunday so please make every effort to join us for worship.

Sunday 27th October at 11.00 – Sung Eucharist for Bible Sunday

The Church of England makes provision for the Last Sunday after Trinity to be celebrated as Bible Sunday, with a particular emphasis on the importance of the Christian Scriptures. We will have a Guest Preacher – Saša Flek, who has masterminded the completion of a translation of the Bible into modern Czech – Bible 21. Saša is an engaging speaker as those who heard him speak one Tuesday evening last year, will testify.

On Sunday morning, there will be a Bible Sales Table at the back of the Church. On it will be copies of Bible 21, together with copies of a bilingual English-Czech New Testament, both produced by Saša’s publishing firm Biblion. There will also be a variety of Bibles in English. Do you need a new Bible? May be a more modern English translation? Would you like to have a Bible in Czech to improve your Czech? Or a Czech Bible to give to an enquiring Czech friend? Please make the most of this opportunity. And please also come armed with cash! I’m afraid I’m unable to accept plastic :-)

Cool Drinks and Light Refreshments will be served at the back of Church following our worship. My thanks to Tasci Gibson who is organising them this week. And there will be parallel Children’s Ministry.

Important Notice – No one has any excuse for being late to Church on Sunday morning because the clocks go BACK one hour during Saturday night :-)

Tuesday 29th October 18.30-20.00 in the small meeting room on the first floor of Klimentská 18

I have the small meeting room booked for five more Tuesday evenings through to the end of November. Then we’ll break & restart again in the New Year. Over the those five evenings, I’m proposing we look at the Letter of James which, most conveniently, has five chapters! The Letter of James has much to say to us about practical Christian living and will I’m sure, provoke some interesting discussions. We’ll finish our time together by saying Evening Prayer.

Coffee Hour Rota

From Sunday 3rd November, we’ll move into ‘winter mode’ and we’ll have Coffee Hour after worship each Sunday, in the hall on the third floor of Klimentská 18. Our new rota organiser Tasci Gibson, is going to incorporate Coffee Hour, into our rota of Readers, Intercessors etc. But she needs people willing to be part of the rota! If you haven’t run Coffee Hour previously, simple instructions will be given in advance of your first time on the rota. It would be great to have an even wider group of people participating in running things at St. Clement’s. So if you would like to help put on Coffee Hour some Sundays, please contact Tasci ASAP tgibson02(at)gmail(dot)com

That’s enough for this week – see you on Sunday with cash in hand!

Best wishes

Ricky
