Dear People & Friends of St. Clements,

I’m writing this Weekly Message, late at night on Thursday rather than on Friday morning, for two interconnected reasons. It is both because my writing slot on Friday morning got taken away a few hours ago by an invitation to appear on Czech TV. And I thought you all might want to know about my TV appearance in advance of it happening :-)

For the second time in just over a year, I’m going to be appearing live on ČT24. The programme is called ‘Studio ČT24’ I’m supposed to be on at 10.40 tomorrow morning but my experience from appearing as part of ČT24’s coverage of last year’s Royal Wedding is that the time-frame can slip. You should be able to see it online  and click on ‘video’ under the programme heading. The topic of conversation will be my home city of Coventry and the 50th anniversary tomorrow of the consecration of the new Cathedral.

Whilst I won’t be talking directly about St. Clement’s, it still is an excellent opportunity of making people aware that there is an English-speaking Anglican congregation in Prague, and now also in Brno. The invitation to appear on ČT24 actually came about through a recent Brno contact.

After that…….

Pentecost Sunday 27th May

The third most important festival in the Christian Year, after Easter & Christmas, is the Feast of Pentecost, celebrating the coming of the Holy Spirit upon the first disciples as recorded in Acts 2. 1-21. Our preacher at our 11.00 Family Eucharist on Pentecost Sunday will be Rev’d Dr Karen Moritz. Please remember that the liturgical colour for Pentecost is RED. Therefore, please come to Church on Sunday, wearing something RED if at all possible! No Children’s Ministry but there will be Coffee Hour following the service.

Thank you to all my language volunteers. Details of what you need to say will go out to you, tomorrow afternoon, by email.

Tuesday 29th May; 18.30-20.00 in the small meeting room on the first floor of Klimentská 18

We shall hopefully be looking at Jesus as portrayed in the Gospel of John – the topic postponed from last Tuesday in view of their being a large number of absentees :-)

A Reminder…….

………that the Wheelie Bin for collecting tinned food to help support the work of the Salvation Army with homeless people in Prague is now back in Church. Basically, any food item in a tin but NOT sauces, pasta, or other dried goods in packets or plastic bottles. In pictures & words on the outside of the bin, there is a clear indication of what is & isn’t required. Why not buy a few extra tins when you are next shopping at your local Billa, Albert or Tesco supermarket & bring them to Church on Sunday & put them in the wheelie bin?

Looking forward to seeing many of you at worship this coming Sunday.

Best wishes

Ricky
