Dear People & Friends of St. Clement’s,

Please join us for worship once again this coming Sunday.

Sunday 26th June at 11.00 – Sung Eucharist for the Fifth Sunday after Trinity
As well as saying Psalm 16 responsively, we will hear our next instalment from St. Paul’s Letter to the Galatians – Galatians 5. 1 & 13-25 – a familiar passage which speaks of the ‘Fruits of the Spirit‘. Our Gospel reading will be Luke 9. 51-62, which contains some very challenging words of Jesus to those who said they wanted to be his followers. Our preacher will be Licensed Reader Jack Noonan. For the last time before breaking for summer, there will be parallel Children’s  Ministry.

Following worship, there should be Cool Drinks & Light Refreshments served at the back of the Church. However, we do need someone to set up & serve them! It is the one remaining gap on the June rota. All that is needed should be already stored in the vestry. We just need a willing volunteer. Offers to me ASAP.

I will then be headed to Praha hl.n. in order to catch the train to Dresden as I shall be leading and preaching at the monthly English-language Anglican Service of Evening Prayer starting at 18.00 in the Frauenkirche.

Ordinations
This is the time of year known as ‘Petertide‘, when ordinations often take place. The name comes from the Feast of St. Peter which falls on 29th June. Many of you will remember Lea Williams, an ordinand at Ripon College, Cuddesdon, who spent part of his long summer placement with me last July, and preached at St Clement’s on Sunday 12th July 2015. Lea is to be ordained deacon on this coming Saturday evening by the Bishop of Chelmford, and will serve as Assistant Curate of the United Benefice of St. Mary’s Great Dunmow & St. Andrews, Barnston in North Essex.

On the following Saturday 2nd July, two deacons who serve in our Eastern Archdeaconry, will be ordained priest by our Anglican Diocesan Bishop, Rt Rev’d Dr Robert Innes. They are Mike Waltner, Curate of Christ Church, Vienna, and Rosamund Wilkinson, Curate of the Church of the Resurrection, Istanbul. The ordination service will be in Christ Church, Vienna & I’m planning to be there and join with Bishop Robert in the laying on of hands. If you have a slightly tired Chaplain on Sunday 3rd July, then you’ll know why :-)

Please remember all those being ordained in your prayers.

Two other things….
As some of you may know, Bishop Dušan Hejbal of the Old Catholic Church in the Czech Republic, retires in July on his sixty-fifth birthday. His farewell service will be on Wednesday 29th June, the Feast of St. Peter, in the Old Catholic Cathedral of sv. Vavřince on Petřín Hill starting at 18.30. The service will mainly be in Czech but there may well be some German &/or English as there are international visitors attending too.

Both my sermons from Sunday 12th & Sunday 19th June are now available to listen to on our Church website. Click here & then on the one you want.

Best wishes

Ricky
