Dear People & Friends of St. Clements,

The Week Ahead……

This coming Sunday, we finally finish counting the Sundays after Trinity! Next Sunday, we start counting down the Sundays to Advent & the beginning of a new Christian Year.

As many of you know, our Bible Readings each Sunday come from the Revised Common Lectionary(RCL), compiled originally by the Roman Catholic Church but now widely used by Anglicans, Methodists, Presbyterians and others all around the world. When the Church of England adopted the use of the RCL in 2000, it added one or two alternatives for a few Sundays each year, one of which we are going to use this Sunday. We are going to celebrate the Last Sunday after Trinity as Bible Sunday.

Sunday 23rd October at 11.00 – Family Eucharist for the Last Sunday after Trinity/Bible Sunday

There will be no separate Children’s Ministry this Sunday as I want to talk about how parents and children can learn together from reading the Bible, not forgetting also those adults without children! There will be Cool Refreshments served at the back of Church after the service.

Midweek events

In nearly all the International Schools & the Czech/English Schools, all or part of this coming week is half-term holiday/mid-term break/Autumn or Fall vacation. As so many in our congregation either teach &/or have children in these schools and as a result are going to be away from Prague for some days, I’ve decided to give our Tuesday night meetings a break this coming week too. Our Thursday evening course on the basics of Christian Faith came to an end last night, deliberately being planned to finish before this holiday week begins!

Therefore, our next Tuesday evening meetings 6.30-8.00pm in the small meeting room on the first floor of Klimentská 18 will be as follows

Tuesday 1st November

An Informal Eucharist around the table in celebration of All Saint’s Day.

Tuesday 8th November

I will lead the second of my two sessions on Anglicanism, for the benefit of both the non-Anglicans and the cradle Anglicans in our congregation.

David Hellam, who has both led & with Alison, also hosted our Thursday evening course, is planning to run two or three more sessions on a variety of topics in November using the same format of Food – Talk – Discussion. The exact details are still to be sorted out but will be publicised in future Weekly Messages, the Sunday Bulletin & on our website. Watch this space!

Sunday 30th October at 11.00 – Joint Anglican – Old Catholic Eucharist at St. Clement’s

This year, it is our turn to host our annual joint service with the Old Catholics. The service will be in both Czech & English with an Order of Service in both languages. More details in next week’s message which will go out earlier than Friday. Advance warning – the night before this service, the clocks go back one hour! We all get an extra hour in bed as we move from Central European Summer Time (CEST) to Central European Time (CET).

Update on two of the five ways to support St. Clement’s financially……

Amazon.com now included!

If you go to this page  on our website, you will see that we have now also an Amazon.COM link for those of you that either live in the States or have friends there that shop at Amazon and would like to support St.Clement’s. As Christmas is approaching, this could be a great way to raise some much needed funds for our Church. Please tell your friends & family about it too. Always click on the link first & then start shopping and remember, these links are aimed at people that already use Amazon, but NOT to encourage people to spend more money! If you have any questions and suggestions, please don’t hesitate to ask.

Christmas Cards

A big ‘Thank you’ once more, to Steve & Camilla Entwistle who have successfully organised the production of  St. Clement’s Christmas Cards. The cards come in packs of 10 with one design per pack: there are 2 designs available. The cards are in English and the inside contains text to the effect that the cards are sold to support St. Clement’s and includes our web address. They are exceptionally good value at only 200 CZK for a pack of 10.

They will be available for sale after the service this Sunday & following Sundays. If you can take packs to sell on to others, then please do so by signing the list at the back of Church to say how many packs you’ve taken. The good news is that we have already nearly sold sufficient packs to cover the cost of production meaning that very soon, all sales will be income for St. Clement’s.

Looking forward to seeing many of you at worship this Sunday

Best wishes

Ricky
