Dear People & Friends of St. Clement’s,

A very important announcement

Your Church Council has unanimously decided to postpone the Annual Church Meeting (ACM), from Sunday 10th March 2013, to Sunday 21st April 2013. The reason for making this decision is that it was becoming highly unlikely that we would have completed & audited accounts for 2012 to present to the ACM, if it were to go ahead on 10th March. As the presentation and acceptance of the accounts for the previous year, is an important agenda item of the ACM, I trust you will understand why your Church Council has made this decision.

The Church Representation Rules under which we operate, provide that the ACM must be held on or before the 30th April each year & we have given everybody more than 28 days notice of the new date. And some of you will remember that a few years ago, we did hold the ACM in April rather than in March so this is nothing out of the ordinary.

This change of date means that what I wrote last week about the new Church Electoral Roll (CER), is now incorrect! The cut off date for applying to join the new CER, is now Saturday 6th April. This means that the latest date an application form can be handed in to either Sybille or myself in person in Church, is Easter Sunday 31st March. Therefore, the six or seven people I’m aware of, who ought to be on the new CER but, despite umpteen reminders, did not hand their completed application forms in on time, now have a further four weeks in which to do so!

The new CER as it currently stands, is on the noticeboard at the back of Church. If you have already applied to join it, please check that you are on the list & that there are no spelling mistakes that need correcting. Thank you to all those of you I saw doing exactly that last Sunday morning.

Another important announcement

Yesterday morning, the Salvation Army collected the two wheelie bins containing tinned food & warm winter clothing from the Church. Thank you to everybody who has contributed towards helping the work of the Salvation Army with the homeless in Prague. We should have the bin for collecting tinned food back in Church in a short while & when it is back, I’ll let you know via my Weekly Message. But until then, please don’t bring any more contributions to Church.

Now to what’s happening this coming week.

Sunday 3rd March at 11.00 – Sung Eucharist for the Third Sunday of Lent

Our Bible Readings this Sunday continue the Lenten theme of self-examination & repentance. They are Isaiah 55. 1-9 with the call to ‘Seek the Lord while he may be found, call upon him while he is near’; 1 Corinthians 10. 1-13 with the reminder that ‘No testing has overtaken you that is not common to everyone’ & that ‘God is faithful’; and Luke 13. 1-9 in which Jesus calls his hearers to repentance & tells the parable of the fig tree. Why not read them for yourself before hearing them read once again on Sunday morning? There will be parallel Children’s Ministry but no Coffee Hour as unfortunately, our host congregation want use of the the hall on the third floor of Klimentská 18.

Tuesday 5th March 18.30-20.00 in the small meeting room on the first floor of Klimentská 18.

The third of our Lent studies looking at some of the Psalms. This coming Tuesday, we will be looking at three short Psalms 122, 123 & 124 and our study will be led by Fergus Butler-Gallie. As previously during Lent, we’ll end by saying Evening Prayer together. I personally have both enjoyed & learned much from our two previous Lent Tuesday evenings. So why not plan to join us this coming Tuesday?

And finally for this week……..

………a little bit of fun! You might enjoy this short video from an Episcopal Church in Texas, even if we don’t have acolytes at St. Clement’s

Best wishes
