Dear People & Friends of St. Clement’s,

Today is a significant anniversary. Exactly six years ago on the afternoon of Friday 19th September 2008, Sybille and I arrived in Prague, having driven all the way from the UK over the previous two days, in order to begin our new life here in the Czech Republic. Therefore this Sunday will be the sixth anniversary of my first ever service as Chaplain of St. Clement’s. So do please plan to join us for worship & help me celebrate!

Sunday 21st September at 11.00 – Sung Eucharist for the Fourteenth Sunday after Trinity
As well as the responsive Psalm 145. 1-8, we will also have the first of four successive readings over the next four Sundays, from Paul’s Letter to the Philippians 1. 21-30. The Gospel reading is another parable of Jesus – the workers in the vineyard, as recorded in Matthew 20. 1-16. There will be parallel Children’s Ministry and following worship, Cool Drinks & Light Refreshments will be served at the back of the Church.

Tuesday 23rd September 18.30-20.00 in the small meeting room on the first floor of Klimentská 18
The third in our series What should be the Christian response be to moral/ethical issues facing our world today? We are going to tackle the issue of Crime and punishment and hopefully try and answer the question, ‘Where is the place of Christian forgiveness?‘. I think we might be referring back to last Sunday’s Gospel reading along with other Biblical passages. We’ll end our session by saying Evening Prayer together. If the ground floor door of Klimentská 18 is locked, press the bell marked Kancelář & we’ll buzz you in!

Then from Thursday 25th – Sunday 28th September, we will be hosting the annual meeting of the Eastern Archdeaconry Synod. I will write more about it when I send out my Weekly Message next week, which will be going out far earlier in the week for obvious reasons! But do make sure are with us for our Sung Eucharist at 11.00 on Sunday 28th September when our Celebrant & Preacher will be our new Anglican Bishop in Europe, Rt. Rev’d Dr Robert Innes.

And a further reminder…….

Outing on the afternoon of Sunday 28th September
As I’ve written the past two weeks, on the afternoon of Sunday 28th September, following our Sung Eucharist with Bishop Robert marking the conclusion of the Eastern Archdeaconry Synod meeting, there will be an outing to visit the most remarkable Church at Slavětín nad Ohří. Full details can be found here. Whilst the trip is being put on for Synod delegates, it also open to members of the St. Clement’s congregation and I hope that many of you will be interested in joining us for what should be a most fascinating and enjoyable afternoon. The cost will be 350 Kč per person. This will cover the cost of travel by coach, together with the provision of Smažený sýr + hranolky + tatarská omáčka at our afternoon refreshment stop.

If you are interested in going on the trip, there is a notice on the noticeboard at the back of Church where you can sign up. Or alternatively, just drop me an email. All those who have previously emailed me about going on the trip, will find that I’ve put your names on the list. But it would still be worth checking as I am human!

Looking forward to seeing many of you on Sunday.

Best wishes

Ricky
