Dear People & Friends of St. Clement’s,

I trust that all of you reading this email who are currently living in Prague, are like me, enjoying the fact that Spring has finally arrived in the Czech Republic! It is about three weeks late but most welcome :-)  It has been a rather long drawn-out winter.

Looking ahead to this coming Sunday & the following week…..

Sunday 21st April at 11.00 – Sung Eucharist for the Fourth Sunday of Easter

Two of our three Bible readings are about sheep & shepherds – the familiar Psalm 23 and John 10. 22-30 where Jesus says ‘My sheep listen to my voice’. Our first reading will be Acts 9. 36-43 which tells of a rather special lady called Dorcas. There will be parallel Children’s Ministry. Immediately following our worship, there will be the……..

Annual Church Meeting (ACM)

At the ACM, your Church Council reports on its activities during the past year, most notably with the presentation of the accounts for 2012 by the Church Treasurer. There will also be brief reports by the Church Council Secretary, the Churchwarden, Archdeaconry Synod Rep & by me. It is also the opportunity for any Church member to asks questions or raise any issue or concern about the life of our Church. Also at the ACM, two Churchwardens & up to nine members of the Church Council are elected to serve for the coming year. Written nominations for these posts must be made on the form on the noticeboard at the back of Church, no later than the beginning of worship on Sunday morning. There are still several vacancies!

May I strongly encourage all 61 members of the new Church Electoral Roll to be present for the ACM. It is your Church and your chance to have your say as to its future.

Tuesday 23rd April 18.30-20.00 in the small meeting room on the first floor of Klimentská 18.

Our Tuesday evening study & fellowship sessions will definitely resume following the Easter break. Bearing in mind that we are in the fifty days of the Easter season, we will be looking at the significance of the death & resurrection of Jesus, initially in our first session, as recorded in the Acts of the Apostles. In future sessions, we’ll look at the teaching of St. Paul on the same subject and, nearer to Pentecost, what Acts, the Gospel of John & St. Paul, have to say about the gift of the Holy Spirit. As during Lent, we will end by saying Evening Prayer together.

Sunday 28th April at 11.00 – Sung Eucharist for the Fifth Sunday of Easter

Our preacher will be Jack Noonan and there will be parallel Children’s Ministry & the service will be followed by Coffee Hour.

And in the week following, from Monday 29th April – Friday 3rd May, I will be in Switzerland, attending the ICS Chaplains Conference.

Finally for this week……..

Don’t forget that we are still collecting tinned food to support the work of the Salvation Army with the homeless in Prague. Please bring your contributions to Church and place them in the large red wheelie bin!

Looking forward to seeing very many of you for worship & the ACM on Sunday

Ricky
