Dear People & Friends of St. Clement’s,

Happy Struggle for Freedom & Democracy Day! For those who don’t know, today marks the twenty-seventh anniversary of the beginning of the Velvet Revolution leading to the collapse of the Communist regime in Czechoslovakia at the end of 1989. This coming Sunday also brings an end to the Church or Christian Year, being the Sunday next before Advent, usually now known as Christ the King.

Sunday 20th November at 11.00 -Sung Eucharist celebrating Christ the King

Our first reading will be Psalm 46 which we will as usual, say responsively declaring, ‘The Lord of hosts is with us: the God of Jacob is our stronghold’. Our second reading will be Colossians 1. 11-20, a wonderful Christological passage where St Paul explains who Jesus is and what he has done for us. Our Gospel reading is part of the passion narrative – Luke 23. 33-43, where an inscription is put above the crucified Jesus, declaring ‘This is the King of the Jews.’ Our preacher on Sunday will be Licensed Reader Jack Noonan. There will be parallel Children’s Ministry and following worship, Coffee Hour in the hall on the third floor of Klimentská 18.

Tuesday 22nd November 18.30-20.00 in the small meeting room on the first floor of Klimentská 18

The last of five Bible Studies, looking at Paul’s First Letter to Timothy followed by Evening Prayer. We will be looking at the passage 1 Timothy 6. 1-21. Why not join us this coming Tuesday? If the ground floor door of Klimentská 18 is locked, press the bell marked Sborový Kancelář & we’ll buzz you in!

And for your prayers…

Following Coffee Hour on Sunday, your Church Council will be meeting, in preparation for a further important meeting with Archdeacon, which will take place on the evening of Wednesday 23rd November. This meeting, known as a Vacancy Meeting, will be to agree the procedure for the recruitment and appointment of a successor Chaplain to me, once I retire on 30th April 2017.

Archdeacon Colin will arriving in Prague late on the evening of Tuesday 22nd – I shall be collecting him from the airport, directly after our Bible Study. He will meet with your Churchwardens on Wednesday morning. On Wednesday afternoon, Archdeacon Colin & I will be meeting with Bishop-elect of the Old Catholic Church in the CR, before going on to meet with your Church Council in the evening. On Thursday, Archdeacon Colin & I will be travelling to Dresden for a meeting at the Frauenkirche, to discuss the future of Anglican English-language ministry there. He will then travel on to his home in Frankfurt & I shall return to Prague :-)

I’ve written these last two paragraphs specifically as the heading says – for your prayers! Please pray for wisdom, guidance and insight, for all involved in these meetings which will have a direct impact on the future life of St Clement’s, Prague.
