Dear People & Friends of St. Clement’s,

This week’s ‘Weekly Message’ will be quite brief as we are currently in ‘summer mode’ whilst so many of our regular congregation are away during July & August. There are just three things I want to highlight.

Thank you…..
…….to everybody who made Lea Williams so welcome last Sunday. Especial thanks to all those who I asked to complete ‘Sermon Evaluation Sheets’ for him. The text of Lea’s sermon is now available here on our Church website. Unfortunately, there is no recording of the sermon whilst our technical wizard David Hellam  is on holiday.

Worship this coming Sunday 19th July at 11.00 – Sung Eucharist for the Seventh Sunday after Trinity
Our Old Testament reading will be Jeremiah 23. 1-6, where God, through the prophet, has harsh words for the ‘shepherds’ of the people of Israel who ‘scatter the sheep of my pasture’. He promises to raise up new shepherds and a ‘righteous Branch’ to ‘reign as king’. Our Gospel reading consists of two short sections of chapter 6 of Mark’s Gospel, which come either side of the account of the ‘Feeding of the five thousand’ – Mark 6. 30-34 & 53-56. In his account, Mark describes the crowds who follow Jesus as being, ‘like sheep without a shepherd’. In between, we will hear Ephesians 2. 11-22, the second instalment of a semi-continuous reading of this letter by St Paul, which will continue Sunday by Sunday until Sunday 23rd August. Cool Drinks and Light Refreshments will be served at the back of the Church following worship.

Sunday 26th July at 11.00 – Sung Eucharist for the Eighth Sunday after Trinity
We look forward to being joined for worship by the Choir of Little St. Mary’s, Cambridge, UK. They will sing a setting of the Eucharist, of which more details in next week’s ‘Weekly’. Please do think of friends you could invite who don’t normally come to Church, but who would enjoy hearing high quality English Choral Music.

Until Sunday

Best wishes

Ricky
