Dear People & Friends of St. Clement’s,

Last Sunday morning, it was wonderful to both welcome back some ‘old faces’ – regular members of the congregation who have been away from Prague over the summer – & to welcome some new faces of those recently arrived in Prague. We had over fifty attending worship at St Clement’s in the morning with quite a number staying on afterwards for our Church Family Picnic in the nearby park on Lannova. In the evening, I conducted our regular monthly service in Brno with a little congregation of eight.

In both Prague and Brno, the newcomers who had found us had done so through this website. It was once again a reminder to me of how important the website is in making St. Clement’s and its activities known. Updating it at least once a week is one of the many things I try to do including posting this ‘Weekly Message’ soon after it has been sent out by email. And as mentioned in last week’s ‘Weekly Message’, we are once more posting sermons on this website. Mine from last Sunday is now available to listen to here

Now looking ahead to this coming Sunday & the following week……..

Sunday 16th September at 11.00 – Sung Eucharist for the Fifteenth Sunday after Trinity

This Sunday, the reading from the Old Testament is a short passage from the prophesy of Isaiah 50. 4-9a, whilst the New Testament/Epistle reading is the third instalment of the Letter of James 3. 1-12. The Gospel reading is Mark 8. 27-38 – Peter’s declaration of faith on the road to Caesarea Philippi which is the pivotal point of Mark’s Gospel. Our preacher will be Jack Noonan who as most of you know, is a ‘Reader in training’. The ‘in training’ bit will be dropped very soon as Jack has completed his studies & should be licensed by Bishop Geoffrey at the annual meeting of the Eastern Archdeaconry Synod in Athens at the end of this month.

There will be parallel Children’s Ministry & Cool Refreshments will be served at the back of Church following the service.

Tuesday 18th September 18.30-20.00 – Midweek Study & Fellowship

Following the summer break, our regular Midweek Study & Fellowship meetings were meant to resume in the small meeting room on the first floor of Klimentská 18 last Tuesday evening. However, they didn’t as none of the regular attendees could make it! Therefore, they’ll restart this coming Tuesday evening. Over the next four Tuesday evenings, I’m going to lead a series of Bible Studies looking at St. Paul’s Letter to the Philippians. For some, the Bible is almost a closed book – for others, you know it well. But we can all learn something together! I look forward to seeing both old faces & new on Tuesday evening. If at all possible, bring a Bible with you though I will also have printed copies of the text with me. Please plan to be there!

And a few reminders…….

We are still collecting tinned food to support the Salvation Army in their work helping to feed homeless in Prague. The red wheelie-bin will be at the back of Church again on Sunday to receive your gifts.

Don’t forget to use this link if you are ordering anything from Amazon.com or Amazon.co.uk. It won’t cost you anything more but it will help support the work of St. Clement’s.

As explained in last week’s ‘Weekly Message’, I’m looking for a new compiler of our rota for welcomers, readers, intercessors etc. If you are computer literate and would be willing to take this task on, please speak with me. I’d much prefer to have a volunteer rather than a pressed man or woman! Sybille, who has done this for the past two years, is very happy to both to pass on her notes & expertise and help provide a smooth transition to her successor.

Looking forward to seeing many of you on Sunday.

Best wishes

Ricky
