Dear People & Friends of St. Clement’s,

I trust that many of you will join us for worship this coming Sunday in Prague.

Sunday 15th September at 11.00 – Sung Eucharist for the Sixteenth Sunday after Trinity

Our readings this Sunday are Exodus 32. 7-14, where Moses pleads with God for the Children of Israel after they have built & worshipped the golden calf; 1 Timothy 1. 12-17, where Paul speaks of God’s grace overflowing for him; and Luke 15. 1-10, which contains two much-loved parables of Jesus – the Lost Sheep & the Lost Coin.

Following our worship, there will be a Shared Lunch in the hall on the third floor of Klimentská 18. As we did earlier this year, the lunch is entitled ‘A Taste of Home‘. The idea is, if at all possible, to bring a dish that is typical of where you originate from, which can be shared with others. Please try and bring a bit more than what would just feed you, so we can invite any newcomers or visitors, to join us too. Coffee, tea & cool drinks will be provided.

Whilst many people happily muck in and help at a shared lunch, it would be good to have one or two volunteers, who would be willing to leave Church having received communion & go across to open up Klimentská 18 & make the coffee & tea, in advance of everybody else arriving. If you would be willing to help in this way, please drop me a quick email.

Tuesday 17th September 18.30-20.00 in the small meeting room on the first floor of Klimentská 18

Our regular midweek Study & Fellowship sessions continue. This coming Tuesday, we have the second in our series, ‘Questions of Faith‘ entitled How would you answer a Czech agnostic? I’ll seek to get the discussion going but I will welcome input from others. We’ll end the session by once more saying Evening Prayer together.

Sunday 22nd September

From Thursday 19th – Sunday 22nd September, Gordon Truefitt, Jack Noonan & I, will all be away, attending the annual meeting of the Eastern Archdeaconry Synod. In our absence on Sunday 22nd, there will be a Family friendly Service of the Word led by David Hellam, celebrating Harvest Festival. Either David or I will have more to say about what is planned in Church this coming Sunday & I hope to send out next week, an earlier ‘Weekly Message’ with an update, before travelling to the Synod meeting.

Looking further ahead…..

The planned social event which I previously advertised as being on Friday 27th September, has been put back by two weeks, to Friday 11th October. This from the chief organiser, Gordon Truefitt.

Gather your wits, your finery, your lust for life – Gather your family, friends, neighbours and colleagues old and new – AND COME for a glorious celebration of Music – Festive food, Drink, Fellowship, and Fun and Frolic – for those who fancy it. “This is the day the Lord has made; let us be glad and rejoice in it!” ..and all for less than 300Kc! – full details soon – but start gathering your party now!

Sermons on our website

With apologies for the delay, but I’m pleased to be able to report that my sermons from the past three Sundays, 25th August, 1st September & 8th September, are now uploaded & available to listen to, on our website. Just click on this link,  & choose which one(s) you want to listen to. My thanks to David Hellam for masterminding the recording & to Sybille, for the technical work in uploading them to www.anglican.cz . David tells me that he is hopeful of soon being able to pass Sybille a memory stick with at least some of the missing sermons from the period 21st July – 18th August, once he’s had time & opportunity to copy them from Gordon’s laptop. Watch this space!

Hoping to see many of you at worship & lunch on Sunday
