Dear People & Friends of St. Clement’s,

I hope all of you who are in Prague, are enjoying the wonderful Autumn weather of the last few days, including today. Unfortunately, according to the weather forecast I’ve just looked at, it sadly isn’t going to last, with rain promised at the weekend. But a warm welcome will await you, as always, at St Clement’s on Sunday Morning :-)

Sunday 15th November at 11.00 – Sung Eucharist for the Second Sunday before Advent
We look forward to welcoming our new Archdeacon, Ven. Colin Williams as our preacher. Colin only took up his new role at the beginning of September and this will be his first visit to Prague. Gordon Truefitt & I had the privilege of meeting him at the Eastern Archdeaconry Synod meeting in Zagreb at the end of September. He flies in from Frankfurt late this evening, and will be spending time with me & your Churchwardens tomorrow. As well as hearing him preach, there will be the opportunity to talk with him at Coffee Hour following worship, after which he will meet with the Church Council. He will also meet Bishop Dušan of the Old Catholic Church, later on Sunday afternoon. Your prayers for Archdeacon Colin and his time spent with us, would be greatly appreciated.

Our Old Testament reading on Sunday will be Daniel 12. 1-3. The second reading will be a further section of the Letter to the Hebrews – Hebrews 10. 11-25. The Gospel reading will be Mark 13. 1-8. There will be parallel Children’s Ministry.

Tuesday 17th November – 18.30-20.00 in the small meeting room on the first floor of Klimentská 18.
Our regular Tuesday evening meetings for Study and Fellowship resume, looking at St. Paul’s First Letter to the Corinthians. Picking up from where we reached the last time we met, we will be looking at 1 Corinthian 6. As we normally do, the last 15-20 minutes will be spent saying Evening Prayer together. If the outside door of Klimentská 18 is locked, please press the bell marked Kancelář & you’ll be buzzed in!

Thursday 19th November – 19:00 chez Hellam, Namesti Interbrigady 949/3, Bubenec,
between the Lotyšská and Zelená tram stops, our Alpha Course will continue. It includes dinner for everyone, so if you’re planning to come tell David, david(at)hellam(dot)net or 722 223 097

Sunday 22nd November at 11.00 – Sung Eucharist for the Sunday next before Advent celebrating Christ the King
I will be your Celebrant & Preacher on what is the last Sunday of the Christian Year. The will be parallel Children’s Ministry and Coffee Hour following worship.

Collecting tinned food & warm winter clothing for the work of the Salvation Army with the homeless in Prague
Thank you to everybody who has put their donations into the red wheelie bins at the back of the Church over the past few months. As I’ve mentioned in previous Weekly Messages, I’ve been trying to get the contents of both wheelie bins collected, especially as the clothing bin is full. The delay in doing this has been due to a change of personnel within the Prague Corps of the Salvation Army. I’ve now been promised that the contents of both bins will be collected some time next week. Therefore, more tinned food would be most welcome this Sunday, but please hold off bringing fresh clothing donations for another week.

Poppy Appeal
Thank you to everybody who contributed to this, and to Diane Tvaroha for organising it. I’m promised a figure for the total we collected which will be in a future Weekly Message.

Best wishes

Ricky
