Dear People & Friends of St. Clements,

I’ve had a busy but most interesting week since sending out my previous ‘Weekly Message’ last Friday morning.

On Sunday, we had a number of visitors worshiping with us from various parts of the world including the USA, the UK, France, Australia & Canada. Then on Tuesday evening, Johanna Kulmala considerably improved my knowledge of European political, social & Church history when she spoke about her native Finland.

On Wednesday evening I was once again interviewed by the media. This time it was for RADIO LIBERTE 96.1 MHz , Radio du Périgord Vert, Blanc et Sud Charente but in English! The interviewer was Madeleine Holmes who is a Reader in the Aquitaine Anglican Chaplaincy and who puts together a half-hour radio programme each month on a Christian theme in English, which is broadcast four times and also available to listen to on the Chaplaincy website. The interview with me will be broadcast for the first time this coming Sunday & once it is available on the Aquitaine Chaplaincy website, I’ll put a link to it in my next Weekly Message.

Then on Thursday, we had a lively discussion on environmental concern and profitable business, as well as a most enjoyable lunch, at our latest ‘Ethics at Lunchtime’ event organised jointly with the British Chamber of Commerce in the Czech Republic. We are hoping to organise one more event, either on Thursday 23rd or Thursday 30th June before taking a summer break. Exact details will follow very soon.

Therefore, looking ahead to the coming week……

Sunday 15th May at 11am – Sung Eucharist for the Fourth Sunday of Easter

The Gospel Reading set for this Sunday is John 10. 1-10 where Jesus speaks of being the Good Shepherd. But I shall also be focussing on the other two set readings, Acts 2. 42-47 and 1 Peter 2. 19-25. There will be Children’s Ministry led by Diane Tvaroha and Coffee Hour will follow the service in the hall on the third floor of Klimentská 18.

Tuesday 10th May between 6.30-8.00pm in the small meeting room on the first floor of Klimentská 18

This coming Tuesday, Sybille Yates is going to speak on theme of Pilgrimage. Sybille has made walking pilgrimages to Santiago de Compostela, to Assisi and to Rome. She also spent nearly four years working as a Hospitalera on the Camino de Santiago, running pilgrim refuges and welcoming and offering spiritual care to pilgrims in conjunction with the Roman Catholic Church.

A couple of other announcements

If you were one of those who signed up to sponsor Peter Morpuss when he ran the Prague Half Marathon a few weeks ago, please could you bring your sponsorship money to Church either this coming Sunday or on Sunday 22nd May. Please either put it in the collection basket in an envelope clearly marked, ‘Morpuss Marathon sponsorship’, or hand it directly to our Church Treasurer Gordon Truefit. As Treasurer, Gordon is, not surprisingly, keen to get the money in! But he also wants to be able to finalise the total raised by Peter so we can announce it & thank him accordingly. If you have already paid up – thank you!

If you have reason to come and visit the Chaplaincy Flat between Monday 16th May and the end of August, please don’t try to do so using Tram 8. The tram line between Vítězné náměstí/Dejvicka and Podbaba will be out of use during this period whilst it is extended from Podbaba to Ve struhách. Instead, take the Metro Green Line or Trams, 20, 26 or 36 to Dejvicka and then get a bus down to Podbaba. New instructions will appear on the Weekly Bulletin this Sunday.

I look forward to seing many of you on Sunday

Best wishes

Ricky
