Dear People & Friends of St. Clement’s,

I want to start this ‘Weekly Message’ by saying a big ‘Thank you!’ to everyone who made our Harvest Festival Service last Sunday, such a great success. Particular thanks to David Hellam & the children for all their hard work & inventive ideas. David’s sermon has now been uploaded to our website & you can listen to it by following this link.

After the service last Sunday, various cakes & cookies made by the children were on sale at the back of Church. Here is a note of thanks & details of what the bake sale raised.

‘On behalf of the children at St. Clement’s, I would like to thank the congregation for your overwhelming generosity in response to our bake sale at the end of Sunday’s Harvest Festival Service. In total, we raised CZK 2,200 – enough to purchase two goats for community projects in Africa through www.sendacow.org.uk

David Hellam and the Children’s Ministry Team

Thank you too, for everyone who contributed further cans of food to help the Salvation Army in their work of feeding homeless people in Prague. As those who have tried to move it recently will know, the wheelie bin containing all the cans is now extremely heavy. However, the Salvation Army cannot arrange to collect it until sometime next week so this coming Sunday, there is still one last chance to donate some more tins of food.

Venue & more details

Michelský dvůr

It is one of the most important buildings in Prague’s suburbs which has kept its original character as a large group of buildings constructed around a courtyard. It is a a remarkable historic site ranking among the most attractive examples of building development on the periphery of medieval Prague (today the Prague district of Michle). The exact age of Michelský dvůr is not known, but its history probably reaches as far back as the 15th century.

Between 1994 and 1998 it underwent a thorough reconstruction, but several noteworthy architectural elements have been preserved. The complex includes a cultural centre with a gallery, hall, chapel, and restaurant.

The dance hall opens all along it`s left side into the restaurant, so you can sit in the restaurant when not dancing and still enjoy the fun. The other side of the restaurant overlooks, and opens onto, the garden court, which is decoratively lit at night, and where the children`s games will be. There will be a `Help Yourself Supper` of Burgers, Hot-Dogs, Corncob, Salad and Fries; with fruit salad and ice cream to follow. There will be a cash bar with `Ferdinand` draught beer, soft and not-so-soft drinks; and we`re planning on having an almost bottomless bowl of Autumn Wine Punch gratis!

The `stop` for the 6 & 11 Trams and the 188 & 215 buses is `Michalska,` and is right outside the back entrance to Michelský dvůr via the drive that leads to the 14 car CarPark. Access for pedestrians is best along this drive as there are roadworks at present in Michalska.

Price: 500Kc adults (children over 5 – half price/under 5`s – FREE

This will be a great night to invite all your friends and their families to so please fill-in the number you hope to have in your party and return by reply to

A message from our webmaster

Thank you to everyone who has completed the survey about our website www.anglican.cz. If you still haven’t done so, this is your last chance You can find the survey here .

 And finally for this week……

Do you have any Billa stickers you don’t want? Billa is currently giving out stickers with purchases which you can collect in order to get a cuddly toy. The idea is to collect as many as possible and then donate the cuddly toys to a Children’s charity. We are working jointly with the International Church in Prague to pool stickers and get as many cuddly toys as possible to donate to children in need for Christmas? Billa stop giving out stickers on 27th November 2011 and we need to claim the cuddly toys before December 4th. So if you would like to take part, simply bring your stickers to Church & place them in the collecting envelope on the noticeboard at the back of the Church.

That’s enough from me for this week. Looking forward to seeing many of you on Sunday, either morning or evening!

Best wishes

Ricky
