Dear People & Friends of St. Clement’s,

Looking ahead to all that’s going on in the next couple of weeks…….

Sunday 13th October at 11.00 – Sung Eucharist for the Twentieth Sunday after Trinity

Our Old Testament reading comes from 2 Kings 5 and tells of the healing from leprosy of Naaman, the commander of the army of the king of Aram, by the prophet Elisha. The second reading is a second instalment of St. Paul’s second letter to Timothy – 2 Timothy 2. 8-15. The Gospel reading is another story from the life of Jesus, peculiar to Luke – Luke 17. 11-19 which recounts the healing of ten lepers of whom only one, returned to give thanks. There will be parallel Children’s Ministry and Cool Drinks & Light Refreshments served at the back of Church, following our worship, provided someone volunteers to lay them on :-) See my note below entitled Rota.

Sunday 13th October at 18.00 – Holy Communion with hymns in the Czechoslovak Hussite Church, Nové sady 32a, Brno.

Please do make this known to any English-speakers you know living Brno & the surrounding area of South Moravia.

Tuesday 15th October 18.30-20.00 in the small meeting room on the first floor of Klimentská 18

Our regular midweek Study & Fellowship sessions continue. This coming Tuesday, we will have the, postponed from last Tuesday, fourth in our series, ‘Questions of Faith‘ entitled ‘Why go to Church when I can worship God in my garden?‘ As usual, I’ll introduce the topic, but will welcome input from others. We’ll end the session by once more saying Evening Prayer together.

Sunday 20th October at 11.00 – Sung Eucharist for the Twenty-first Sunday after Trinity

Advance notice that Jack Noonan will be the preacher.

Harvestide `Retro 1940/50 Dinner Dance` at Michelsky Dvur, 7pm – Friday 25th October.

For those who have been longing for a follow-up to our `Burn`s Night Party`; here it is – another opportunity for St. Clement`s family to celebrate together in an evening or good food, fellowship and fun! Equally important; it`s an opportunity to invite your friends, neighbours and colleagues to enjoy a brilliant evening, and show them that St. Clement`s folk are `normal`! – and they will bless you for it.

A flyer which has all the details on, and which you can print and hand around can be found here Flyer HARVEST DINNER DANCE and the details can be found on our website here. Big NB: Bookings please by Sunday 20th October – midnight. We might be able to accommodate a few late comers; but if we are are not over 30 definites` by then, we would have to cancel – and that would be a BIG shame. So call, email or text your `minimal` bookings (you can always add on) as soon as possible. Looking forward to the pleasure of your company!`

Rota

My grateful thanks to Matthew Moistner, for organising & compiling the rota of Welcomers, Chalicers, Intercessors & Readers for the past year. Matthew has now passed on the baton to Tasci Gibson who has agreed to undertake this important task over the next twelve months. Tasci will very shortly be in touch with everybody who currently undertakes these roles, in order to compile a rota for November & December.

The November & December rota will also have a new column entitled Coffee Hour. We plan to move from having post service refreshments at the back of Church, to Coffee Hour in Klimentská 18, at the end of October. But with the sad departure of Caroline Studdert, we will need volunteers to run Coffee Hour each Sunday in future. If sufficient people volunteer, someone would only need to be on duty, once a month or once every six weeks. If you would be willing to do this, please email Tasci tgibson02 (at) gmail (dot) com & let me know too. If you have never used the kitchen in Klimentská 18 previously, instruction will be given.

In the meantime, we also need volunteers to take on organising Cool Drinks & Light Refreshments in Church this coming Sunday & Sundays 20th & 27th October. If you can do so, please email me ASAP.

Sermons on our website

My sermon from last Sunday, is now available to listen to on our website. Just click on this link to find it. I am still hopeful of recovering some of the ‘missing sermons’ from July & August & will let you know via a future Weekly Message, if and when we are successful.

We are collecting at the back of Church…….

Tinned food – any food, meat, fish, vegetables, so long as it in a tin – no packets or bottles please!

Warm winter clothing – in particular, hats, scarves, gloves, socks & underwear, for both men & women.

All the above are to support the work of the Salvation Army with the homeless in Prague.

Billa stickers

Do you have any Billa stickers you don’t want? Billa is currently giving out stickers with purchases which you can collect in order to get a cuddly toy. The idea is to collect as many as possible and then donate the cuddly toys to a Children’s charity. We are working jointly with the International Church of Prague to pool stickers and get as many cuddly toys as possible to donate to children in need for Christmas. If you would like to take part, simply bring your stickers to Church & place them in the collecting envelope on the notice board at the back of the Church.

Used postage stamps

All used stamps, (except British ones only bearing the Queen’s head), will help raise funds for the Intercontinental Church Society (ICS), who have been financially & prayerfully supporting St. Clement’s since 2000. Leave all stamps on the envelope & cut around the stamp(s) leaving about a 5mm border. Then place them in the collecting envelope which is also on the notice board at the back of Church.

Flat available for short-term let

I have details of a flat in Prague 6, Fully furnished, 2+KK, 70m on the second floor of a family house. Available November 2013 – end January 2014. CZK 15,000 per month including utilities + high speed wifi, whilst current tenant is away for three months. If you are interested, reply to this email & I’ll put you in touch with the current tenant.

Best wishes

Ricky
