Dear People & Friends of St. Clement’s,

As my ‘Church Book & Desk Book 2016’ clearly declares, this coming Sunday, Passiontide begins. Therefore, please do plan to join us for worship as we enter this most important part of the Christian Year.

Sunday 13th March at 11.00 – Sung Eucharist for the Fifth Sunday of Lent/Passion Sunday
Our Gospel reading, John 12. 1-8, tells of the anointing of Jesus in the home of Mary, Martha and Lazarus at Bethany. The supporting readings will be Isaiah 43. 16-21 and Philippians 3. 4b-14. Our preacher on Sunday will be Rev’d Dr Karen Moritz – sadly, the penultimate time that she will preach for us at St. Clement’s as Karen will be returning to the USA at the end of April. There will be parallel Children’s Ministry, and following worship, Coffee Hour in the hall on the third floor of Klimentská 18.

Then on Tuesday evening…..

Tuesday 15th March – 18.30-20.00 in the small meeting room on the first floor of Klimentská 18 – Lent Course
Our Lent Course entitled ‘Life Attitudes’ – studying the Beatitudes, will have its final session. If the outside door of Klimentská 18 is locked, please press the bell marked Kancelář & you’ll be buzzed in!

Then, can I draw your attention to a whole variety of other things…..

Last Sunday’s sermon is up on the website & can be listened to here.

New Spring edition of ‘The European Anglican’ – copies arrived this week & will be available FREE at the back of Church on Sunday.

Red wheelie bins at the back of the Church where we collect tinned food and clothing for both men & women to support the work of the Salvation Army with the homeless in Prague. The overflowing clothing bin was emptied this week so now needs refilling! And please can we have some more tinned food! But please, only tins – no packets or bottles.

Collecting envelope for used postage stamps pinned to the noticeboard at the back of the Church. If anybody is wondering why it is nearly empty, it is because all your donated used stamps are sitting safely in my office at the Chaplaincy Flat :-)  I will be taking them all with me, when I travel to the UK in just over a month’s time, for a week of annual leave and to attend the annual ICS Chaplains Conference. Remember, all used postage stamps are wanted, except British ones bearing only the Queen’s head. Leave the stamp on the envelope but cut around it leaving approx 5mm paper border.  The sale of these used stamps supports the work of the Intercontinental Church Society (ICS), who in turn, support us.

The Annual Church Meeting will take place after worship on Sunday 10th April 2016. A form for written nominations for the election of two Churchwardens & up to nine Church Council members will be on the noticeboard this coming Sunday. A proposer, seconder & the consent of the candidate are required. To stand for election &/or to vote at the Annual Church Meeting, you need to be a member of our Church Electoral Roll (CER). Application forms to join the CER, are in a folder pinned to the noticeboard at the back of Church, alongside a copy of the current CER. Applications must be returned by Good Friday 25th March.

Coffee Hour in winter & Cool Drinks & Light Refreshments in summer – Over the past couple of years, the chief masterminds for these have been Evelyn & John Zimmerman. Sadly, John & Evelyn will be returning permanently to the USA at the end of this month & their last service with us will be on Easter Day. Therefore, we are looking for more volunteers willing to lay on Coffee Hour/Light Refreshments with effect from the first Sunday in April. No volunteers will mean no Coffee Hour! It’s as simple as that. Please speak with Evelyn & John if you want to know more about what is involved, and to me, to add you to the rota volunteers list.

Best wishes

Ricky
