Dear People & Friends of St. Clement’s,

It was good to have several ‘regulars’ back with us last Sunday after being away over Christmas/New Year. I look forward to welcoming more ‘returnees’ this coming Sunday. Last Sunday, we celebrated the Epiphany – Jesus being ‘made manifest’ or ‘shown forth’ to the gentiles represented by the wise men who travelled from the East. This Sunday, the focus moves to Jesus being ‘made manifest’ or ‘shown forth’ at his baptism in the River Jordan by John the Baptist.

Sunday 13th January at 11.00 – Sung Eucharist for the Second Sunday of Epiphany – Baptism of Christ

Our Bible Readings will be Isaiah 43. 1-7, Psalm 29 & Luke 3. 15-17 & 21-22. There will be parallel Children’s Ministry and the service will be followed by Coffee Hour in the hall on the third floor of Klimentská 18.

Following Coffee Hour, I shall then be heading to Brno for the first of our regular monthly Sunday evening services in the second city of the Czech Republic. I’m currently unsure as to whether I’m travelling down by train or car – I shall be watching the weather very closely! But I will be staying overnight in Brno in order to meet up with one or two people the next day. Full details of the Brno service can be found here . If any of you have friends or contacts in the Brno area, please do tell them about the service.

However, I shall be back ready to lead the next of our Tuesday evening study sessions…..

Tuesday 15th January 18.30 -20.00 in the small meeting room on the first floor of Klimentská 18.

The second of our studies looking at Strong women in the Bible will focus on someone about whom there is much myth & legend – Mary Magdalene. However, we will concentrate on what the scriptures actually say about her! Do join us if you can.

Looking further ahead……

An important message from Gordon Truefitt

Many of you have lamented the lack of a St. Clements directory so that you can contact other members directly or share information generally. This is not possible for a number of reasons, the main one being your privacy and also the law in relation to data protection. However a solution is now available. We have started, or rather `extended` an existing email `loop`, into a private Yahoo Group called the Friends of St. Clements, which you can join and be able to contact other St. Clements members, or tell us all about church or other events you’re interested in or are attending, or just stuff that you think we all ought to know about. Good or what?!

Well just in case it`s `what` and therefore `not for you`, rather than invite you to subscribe directly, we`ve devised this cunning plan. If you might be interested in joining, send an email to

FriendsofStClements@yahoogroups.com (not case sensitive), with nothing in the message field except your real name. Nobody except us (that`s Maddie Crook, Peter McGregor and me – Gordon Truefitt) will see it. We`ll reply with all the details, and tell you the best way for you to join so that you get what you want out of it and nothing more. Then it`s up to you; if you join, and how you join. Let`s keep in touch. Looking forward to hearing from you….all.

That’s enough for this week!

Best wishes

Ricky
